Objective: Chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) events with multiple casualties are rare events, but preparedness is crucial for hospitals to respond properly. This study evaluated the preparedness and disaster planning of German hospitals for CBRN incidents.
Methods: In a cross-sectional study, German hospitals with level III (highest level) emergency departments were surveyed using an online questionnaire focusing on risk assessment, infrastructure, hospital disaster planning, and preparedness for CBRN events.
This study aimed to describe the use of recommendations as a guide for healthcare providers to support patients experiencing medication self-management problems and to evaluate their feasibility, user-friendliness and usefulness. Between March and August 2023, 58 hospitalized patients completed a self-assessment on medication self-management problems. The problems addressed in this self-assessment were based on a list of frequently encountered medication self-management problems from previous research.

A lack of self-management competencies is found to be associated with low adherence levels and medication errors harming patients' health. Currently, patients seldom receive support or education in medication self-management.

Methods: Based on a search for existing diaries, a review of the content, and a list of medication self-management problems compiled from previous research, a paper and pencil version of a medication diary was developed. The diary was reviewed for clarity and overall presentation by five healthcare providers and nine patients.
Objectives: Belgium is not only prone to inland terrorism but also attracts terrorist factions aiming at various political, diplomatic, military, and/or religious targets. This study aimed to identify and characterize all documented terrorist attacks in Belgium reported to the Global Terrorism Database (GTD) over a period of 50 years.
Methods: The GTD was searched for all terrorist attacks in Belgium between 1970 and 2019.
Medication self-management problems such as the inability to correctly obtain, understand, organize, administer or monitor medication can result in negative patient outcomes. However, supportive tools for healthcare providers to assist patients with medication self-management problems are lacking. This study aimed to develop recommendations for healthcare providers to support patients with polypharmacy who experience medication self-management problems.

This study aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of non-invasive tests for NAFLD, to investigate the prevalence and severity of NAFLD, and to search for factors contributing to NAFLD in people with T1D.
Methods: In this prospective cohort study, we consecutively screened 530 adults with T1D from a tertiary care hospital, using ultrasound (US), vibration-controlled transient elastography equipped with liver stiffness measurement (LSM) and controlled attenuation parameter, and the fatty liver index.
Background: Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014, and the recent Russo-Ukrainian war that started in 2022, were triggers that radically changed the perception of security in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The on-going Russian hybrid war has resulted in a renewed global interest in the safety and security of many countries (eg, the Nordic-Baltic Eight). The prospective North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) membership of Finland and Sweden may drastically change the regional military and political landscape.

Previous pandemics have been (mis)used for (geo)political reasons, for terrorism purposes, and in times of conflict. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been no exception with populist politicians challenging the relations with China, calling it the "Chinese virus," certain state actors setting up cyberterrorist actions against health care organizations in the United States and Europe, and a reported increase of violent acts against health care workers.Aside from state-driven factors, both left- and right-wing activists and anti-vaccination activists adhering to conspiracy theories are a threat for health care organizations.
