Estrogen-dependent mammary gland tumors, induced in rats by DMBA, were found to show a high content of estradiol receptors. Among hormone-dependent tumors there were ones both with low and high content of the receptors. Loss of estrogen dependence by tumors with a high level of estradiol receptors is due to an impairment of the translocation of estradiol-receptor complexes into nuclei.

At the set length of the non-uniformity the critical value of the parameter exists, up to which the propagating impulse "takes no notice" of the trigger region. When the parameter values are higher than the critical value, the trigger region starts to generate the propagating impulses.

Tumors arising spontaneously were transplanted to 30--40 mice of the same strain, and tumors of the first passage were studied. The experiments were undertaken on ovariectomized and hormone-treated animals; the latter were given estradiol-benzoate and progesterone injections weekly during a month in the dosage of 5 mcg and 400 mcg per animal, respectively.

The paper presents the results of L-dopa use for the treatment of patients with reactive stuporous states. The assumption concerning curability of these patients is based on the similarity of a number of their clinical and biochemical manifestations with an akynetic-rigid form of parkinsonism where L-dopa is very effective. From 25 patients with reactive psychoses 7 demonstrated recovery, 3 patients--significant improvement, 5 patients--improvement and 10 patients--absence of the effect.

H3-estradiol binding to the mammary glands was found to be highly specific: only estradiol, and, to a lesser degree, estron, competed with H2-estradiol for the binding sites, while progesterone and hydrocortisone failed to affect the binding of H3-estradiol. As determined by the method of exchange of the receptor-bound endogenous hormone for the labeled exogenous one, the value of H3-estradiol specific binding was 4.

Three types of these changes were distinguished in healthy adolescents: normoreactive, hyperreactive, and inert. The same type of growth hormone secretion changes corresponded to each type of insulin secretion changes.
