Attachment styles have been found to play a significant role in adjustment to cancer. Couples often cope with breast cancer through an interdependent approach to the disease rather than just acting as individuals, and a sense of coherence is an important factor that influences these relationships. This study examined how attachment styles and sense of coherence impact illness acceptance in couples facing breast cancer within a dyadic perspective.

Risk factors for depression can impact these between-symptoms interactions through extended networks. The study aimed to model the extended network of depressive symptoms and known depression risk factors - objective cognitive function, intellectual, physical, and social daily activities, and then, compare the observed networks between monozygotic (MZ) and dizygotic (DZ) co-twins.

Studying discordant monozygotic twins allows the investigation of differences in associations between symptoms and psychopathological risk factors, controlled for shared genetic liability. The network approach to psychopathology suggests that depressive symptoms, along with risk and protective factors (e.

Facial hair is a sexually dimorphic trait with potential evolutionary and sociocultural functions. Bearded men are perceived as dominant, aggressive, and masculine, but also as having better parenting skills. Men may intentionally manage the amount and shape of their facial hair as a part of their self-promotion strategy; however, facial hair management entails costs in terms of time, effort, and money.

Psychological factors tend to influence cancer patients' ability to cope with pain in various dimensions. Although personal resources are an important factor in buffering total pain, still little is known about the intervening variables and underlying mechanisms.

By employing X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy, we investigate the functional contribution of egg yolk constituents: proteins, low-density lipoproteins (LDLs), and yolk-granules to the development of grainy-gel microstructure and microscopic dynamics during cooking. We find that the viscosity of the heated egg yolk is solely determined by the degree of protein gelation, whereas the grainy-gel microstructure is controlled by the extent of LDL aggregation.

We find that both, changes in structure and beam-induced dynamics, depend on the viscoelastic properties of the gels with soft gels prepared at low temperatures being more sensitive to beam-induced effects. Soft gels can be fluidized by X-ray doses of a few kGy with a crossover from stress relaxation dynamics (Kohlrausch-Williams-Watts exponents [Formula: see text] to 2) to typical dynamical heterogeneous behavior ([Formula: see text]1) while the high temperature egg white gels are radiation-stable up to doses of 15 kGy with [Formula: see text].

This study examines whether partner communication mediates relationships between marital satisfaction and illness acceptance among couples coping with breast cancer within a dyadic approach.
Methods: One hundred and thirty-six couples were examined: 136 women with a diagnosis of breast cancer and their 136 spouses without a history of cancer.

Unlabelled: The COVID-19 pandemic and preventive measures undertaken by many governments have had a significant impact on family relationships, which could result in worsened parenting. In our study, we used network analysis to examine the dynamic system of parental and pandemic burnout, depression, anxiety, and three dimensions of relationship with an adolescent: connectedness, shared activities, and hostility. Parents ( = 374; = 42.

However, despite considerable interest in the social perception of beardedness, only a few studies have explored men's preferences toward facial hair. We investigated men's preferences toward facial hair and whether their judgments of facial hair appropriateness in social situations depended on their actual beardedness and the type of social interaction (N = 509; age: M = 29.

Signaling sensitivity could be also a deceptive strategy helping to extract resources or obtain the desired treatment ("deceptive signaling" hypothesis). The study presents the construction of the measure of signaling high sensitivity to influence others and an initial test of both hypotheses.

Scattering invariants and kinetic information provide evidence that the system reaches the phase boundary upon pressure-induced LLPS with no sign of arrest. The coarsening slows down with increasing quench depths.

Objectives: To determine chest CT findings associated with severity and mortality in patients with COVID-19 from the Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins (HNERM) and propose cut-off values for a tomographic severity score (TSS).
Materials And Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted in 254 patients with COVID-19 who underwent chest CT as part of their initial evaluation at the emergency room; they were classified according to clinical severity. Main tomographic findings were described.
The synthesis and pharmacological activity of a new series of bicyclic diazepinones with dual activity toward the α2δ-1 subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels (Caα2δ-1) and the norepinephrine transporter (NET) are reported. Exploration of the positions amenable for substitution on a nonaminoacidic Caα2δ-1 scaffold allowed the identification of favorable positions for the attachment of NET pharmacophores. Among the patterns explored, attachment of the 2-ethylamino-9-methyl-6-phenyl-6,7,8,9-tetrahydro-5-pyrimido[4,5-][1,4]diazepin-5-one framework to the meta-position of the phenyl ring of the 3-methylamino-1-phenylpropoxy and 3-methylamino-1-thiophenylpropoxy moieties provided dual compounds with excellent NET functionality.

The aim of this study was to investigate if this effect is also present in vivo, if HspB5 can counteract dendritic rarefaction under pathophysiological conditions and the impact of phosphorylation of HspB5 in this process. HspB5 and eight mutants inhibiting or mimicking phosphorylation at the three phosphorylation sites serine (S)19, S45, and S59 were over-expressed in cultured rat hippocampal neurons with subsequent investigation of the complexity of the dendritic tree.

The interesting issue is whether men's and women's preferences for men's facial hair may be considered a reflection of their intuitive knowledge about these functions. The aim of the presented studies was to analyze women's and men's preferences regarding men's facial hair using questions with a dichotomous answer format (Study 1 and Study 2) and pictorial stimuli (Study 2).

Temporary solutions are renal replacement therapies such as peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis and hemodiafiltration.
