Regular activation of the heart originates from cyclic spontaneous depolarisations of sinoatrial node cells (SANCs). Variations in electrolyte levels, commonly observed in haemodialysis (HD) patients, and the autonomic nervous system (ANS) profoundly affect the SANC function.
