Currently, groin hernia repair is mostly performed with application of mesh prostheses fixed with or without suture. However, views on safety and efficacy of different surgical approaches are still partly discordant. In this multicentre retrospective study, three sutureless procedures, i.

Operations are also performed for the removal of tumors, repairs of ocular trauma and, finally, corneal transplantation. Antibiotic prophylaxis for the prevention of surgical site infections (SSIs) in ocular surgery is a complex field in which shared lines of action are absent.

When we deal with the concept of "common," the reference is made to a heterogeneous category. In this text we refer to two modalities of expression of the "common:" the digital common (section network value) and the common of social reproduction (section social reproduction value or the economy of the interiority and anthropomorphic capital).

This observational survey aimed to demonstrate the use of the Snus kind of smokeless tobacco, among young Italian adults from alpine areas. A customized anonymous questionnaire was purposely created using the Google Forms platform and made it available for 4 weeks through social media supports to a cohort of young adults living in a mountain area in Italy. Out of four hundred recipients, 332 interviewees returned the survey.

Background Data: FPDL is a nonablative technology, typically used in vascular malformation therapy because of its specificity for hemoglobin.
Objective: The purpose of this study was evaluation of the safety and efficacy of this new combined technology that adds deep ablation to thermal stimulation.
Background Data: Minimally ablative or subablative lasers, such as fractional CO2 lasers, have been developed in an attempt to achieve the same clinical results observed with traditional ablative lasers, but with fewer side effects. Despite being an ablative laser, the system used in this study is able to produce a fractional supply of the beam of light.
Non-linear optical microscopy is becoming popular as a non-invasive in vivo imaging modality in dermatology. In this study, combined TPF and SHG microscopy were used to monitor collagen remodelling in vivo after micro-ablative fractional laser resurfacing. Papillary dermis of living subjects, covering a wide age range, was imaged immediately before and forty days after treatment.

Dermatological radiotherapy has used for decades in the treatment of skin diseases with very good results. The Florentine school has always played a fundamental role in the development of this technique, this is where a phototherapy institute, which was going, in the future, to be 1st one in Italy to perform contact radiotherapy regularly, started. As time went by and with the development to new therapeutical modalities, the roentgentherapy met with a decreasing consent.

The purpose of this study was to compare the MPOD values at specific loci around the fovea using the heterochromatic flicker photometry (HFP) and the two-wavelength autofluorescence (AF) methods in a young, healthy population.
Methods: Ten patients (20 eyes) were enrolled.
Purpose: To evaluate corneal curvature (K(m)) and axial length (AL) of eyes of term-born children aged <3.5 years with uncomplicated congenital cataract and provide age-specific estimates.
Methods: This was a retrospective review of patients undergoing cataract extraction from January 1994 to December 2006.
The aim of the present work was to analyze the regenerated muscle types I and II fibers of the soleus and gastrocnemius muscles of mice, 8 months after damage induced by ACL myotoxin (ACLMT). Animals received 5 mg/kg of ACLMT into the subcutaneous lateral region of the right hind limb, near the Achilles tendon; contralateral muscles received saline. Longitudinal and cross sections (10 microm) of frozen muscle tissue were evaluated.

Both the soleus (slow-twitch) and gastrocnemius (fast-twitch) were examined at different time periods (3 h, 3 and 21 d) after the injection. All animals received 5 mg/kg myotoxin into the subcutaneous lateral region of the right hind limb, near the Achilles tendon; contralateral muscles were used as controls.

Increases justifying the description "acute pancreatitis" were noted only in cases involving the papilla and were small in other circumstances. Emphasis is placed on the value of this routine examination in the immediate postoperative period as a defence against acute pancreatitis.
