Focal intranasal drug delivery to the olfactory cleft is a promising avenue for pharmaceuticals targeting the brain. However, traditional nasal sprays often fail to deliver enough medication to this specific area. Typical linewidths are on the order of sub-MHz for free-running III-V DFBs at infrared wavelengths, but linewidths of short-wavelength GaN-based DFBs are considerably worse or unreported. Here, we present a free-running InGaN DFB operating at 443 nm with an intrinsic linewidth of 685 kHz at a continuous wave output power of 40 mW.

Study Design: This multicenter, case-control study enrolled 390 children (194 cases, 196 controls) whose conjunctival samples were tested for bacterial and viral pathogens. Caregivers completed surveys tracking symptoms, antibiotic use, school attendance, and adverse events.
CD8+ T cells destroy insulin-producing pancreatic β cells in type 1 diabetes through HLA class I-restricted presentation of self-antigens. Combinatorial peptide library screening was used to produce a preferred peptide recognition landscape for a patient-derived T cell receptor (TCR) that recognized the preproinsulin-derived (PPI-derived) peptide sequence LWMRLLPLL in the context of disease risk allele HLA A*24:02. Data were used to generate a strong superagonist peptide, enabling production of an autoimmune HLA A*24:02-peptide-TCR structure by crystal seeding.

To realize the benefits of silicon nitride in a heterogeneous laser while maintaining a small footprint, we employ metal-coated etched facets and transversely coupled Fabry-Perot resonators as mirrors. Heterogeneous quantum dot lasers are fabricated using an on-chip facet plus adiabatic taper coupler, and Fabry-Perot cavities are defined by metal mirrors and post-grating-distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs).

The cut-off values for the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and disc diffusion were derived from data obtained by 1 laboratory and 2 laboratories respectively. The present work reports the generation of susceptibility data from additional laboratories and the calculation of provisional cut-off values from aggregations of these data with previously published data.

Since these characteristics are used in systems that require a coherent light source, size, weight, power, and cost can be reduced and reliability enhanced by combining TFLN processing and heterogeneous laser fabrication. Here, we report the fabrication of laser devices on a TFLN wafer and also the coprocessing of five different GaAs-based III-V epitaxial structures, including InGaAs quantum wells and InAs quantum dots.

The European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax), one of the most produced marine fish species in Europe, is acutely vulnerable to multiple infectious hazards. In this study, we investigated the potential probiotic effect of some marine Pseudoalteromonas bacterial strains against two major pathogens of this species, Vibrio harveyi and the nervous necrosis virus (NNV), and examined their antibiofilm effect. Impregnation phase was done by repeated immersion of juvenile's sea bass during 8 to 12 weeks in seawater containing the probiotic candidates at a concentration of 10 CFU/mL.
