Background: Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SNB) using radioisotopes is a standard method for assessing axillary lymph node status in patients with breast cancer. Although preoperative lymphoscintigraphy can estimate the number of sentinel lymph nodes (SNs), multiple radioactive SNs are often identified, even when lymphoscintigraphy reveals only one SN. Importantly, metastases are not always observed in the most radioactive SN (hottest SN).

This review article investigates the relationship between mitochondrial dysfunction and cancer progression, emphasizing the metabolic shifts that promote tumor growth. Mitochondria are crucial for cellular energy production, but they also play a significant role in cancer progression by promoting glycolysis even under oxygen-rich conditions, a phenomenon known as the Warburg effect. This metabolic reprogramming enables cancer cells to maintain an alkaline internal pH and an acidic external environment, which are critical for their proliferation and survival in hypoxic conditions.

Ambient concentrations of atmospheric nitrogen dioxide (NO) inhibit the binding of PIF4 to promoter regions of auxin pathway genes to suppress hypocotyl elongation in Arabidopsis. Ambient concentrations (10-50 ppb) of atmospheric nitrogen dioxide (NO) positively regulate plant growth to the extent that organ size and shoot biomass can nearly double in various species, including Arabidopsis thaliana (Arabidopsis). However, the precise molecular mechanism underlying NO-mediated processes in plants, and the involvement of specific molecules in these processes, remain unknown.

When analyzing cancer sample genomes in clinical practice, many structural variants (SVs), other than single nucleotide variants (SNVs), have been identified. To identify driver variants, the leading candidates must be narrowed down. When fusion genes are involved, selection is particularly difficult, and highly accurate predictions from AI is important.

Preclinical research with rodents suggests that the L-type calcium channel blocker isradipine can enhance long-term extinction of conditioned place preference for addictive substances when it is administered in conjunction with extinction training. Although isradipine alone, which is FDA-approved for hypertension, has not shown a direct effect on craving in human drug users, its potential to augment behavioral treatments designed to reduce craving remains unknown. We conducted a triple-blind, randomized placebo-controlled pilot clinical trial of isradipine combined with a novel virtual reality cue exposure therapy (VR-CET) approach with multimodal cues that targeted craving.

Polymeric nanoparticles are primarily synthesized through emulsion polymerization, where surfactants are necessary to maintain dispersion stability. However, surfactants cause significant environmental pollution. The soap-free emulsion polymerization of styrene in melamine foam (MF) using a three-dimensional micronetwork structure as a reactor has been used to synthesize polymer nanoparticles, resulting in an extremely low polymer yield.

Maize is the world's most produced cereal crop, and the selection of maize cultivars with a high stem elastic modulus is an effective method to prevent cereal crop lodging. We developed an ultra-compact sensor array inspired by earthquake engineering and proposed a method for the high-throughput evaluation of the elastic modulus of maize cultivars. A natural vibration analysis based on the obtained Young's modulus using finite element analysis (FEA) was performed and compared with the experimental results, which showed that the estimated Young's modulus is representative of the individual Young's modulus.
