It is well known that the number of true truffles in the wild is decreasing. The aim of the study was to develop an effective, simple and affordable method of asci disruption to release black truffle spores. It was shown that the spore release can be achieved by different ways, such as mechanical or biological destruction.

This study reports the first data about content of serotonin, histamine, and dopamine in black and white truffles fruiting body based on UHPLC-ESI-QqQ-MS/MS. Here we have demonstrated that black () and white () truffles are a source of biogenic amines. Also, we demonstrated the absence of correlation between the quality of truffles and the content of biogenic amines.

Pollution by active ingredients is one of the most significant and widespread forms of pollution on Earth. Medicines can have a negative impact on ecosystems, and contamination can have unpredictable consequences. An urgent and unexplored task is to study the Lake Baikal ecosystem and its organisms for the presence of trace concentrations of active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Among the diversity of microorganisms, the rarest and least explored are microorganisms that live in conditions of high oxygen in the environment and can experience the effects of natural oxidative stress. Here we suggest that the actinobacteria of Lake Baikal, sampled in the littoral zone, may produce natural products with antioxidant activity. The current study aimed to assess the effects of experimentally increased amounts of oxygen and ozone on the morphology of actinobacteria, DNA mutations, and antioxidant potential.

Growth of human population leads to many global and medical problems. The problems include the crisis of health, antibiotic resistance, drug discovery, etc. Increasing antimicrobial resistance of microorganisms results in the need to screen natural products (incl.

Inadequate use of antibiotics has led to spread of microorganisms resistant to effective antimicrobial compounds for humans and animals. This study was aimed to isolate cultivable strains of actinobacteria associated with Baikal endemic alga and estimate their antibiotic properties. During this study, we isolated both widespread and dominant strains related to the genus and representatives of the genera , and .

Color is an essential clue for intra- and interspecies communication, playing a role in selection and speciation. Coloration can be based on nanostructures and pigments; carotenoids and carotenoproteins are among the most widespread pigments in animals. Over 350 species and subspecies of amphipods (Crustacea: Amphipoda) endemic to Lake Baikal exhibit an impressive variability of colors and coloration patterns, including intraspecific color morphs.

Bioresponsive NIR-fluorophores offer the possibility for continual visualization of dynamic cellular processes with added potential for direct translation to in vivo imaging. Here we show the design, synthesis and lysosome-responsive emission properties of a new NIR fluorophore. The NIR fluorescent probe design differs from typical amine functionalized lysosomotropic stains with off/on fluorescence switching controlled by a reversible phenol/phenolate interconversion.

The critical sequence of molecular, neurotransmission and synaptic disruptions that underpin the emergence of psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia remain to be established with progress only likely using animal models that capture key features of such disorders. We have related the emergence of behavioural, neurochemical and synapse ultrastructure deficits to transcriptional dysregulation in the medial prefrontal cortex of Wistar rats reared in isolation. Isolation reared animals developed sensorimotor deficits at postnatal day 60 which persisted into adulthood.

A comparative trial of amithryptiline and dysport (botulinic toxin type A) in the treatment of sialorrhea in patients with motor neuron disease (MND) was conducted in 10 MND patients with sialorrhea, of whom 5 were treated with subcutaneous injections of Dysport and 5 with Amithriptiline, and 6 controls without salivary dysfunction. Gravimetry and scintigraphy of salivary glands were used before and after treatment. Compared to controls, saliva production was significantly decreased in MND patients.
