An infant-controlled tactile habituation without visual control procedure was used to evaluate the ability of 32 late-preterm neonates (mean gestational age: 34 weeks) and 32 early-term neonates (mean gestational age: 38 weeks) to actively explore with hands objects varying in texture (smooth, granular). Holding time and Hand Pressure Frequency (HPF) were recorded. Holding time decreased as habituation progressed in both group of neonates.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Morgane David"

  • - Morgane David’s recent research examines the health impacts of transitioning from cigarette smoking to smoke-free tobacco alternatives, focusing on biomarker changes indicative of reduced harm.
  • - In a randomized trial, findings suggest that switching to tobacco heating systems could significantly lower harmful biomarkers associated with traditional cigarette use, thereby potentially reducing smoking-related disease risks.
  • - Earlier research led by David explored sensory development in late-preterm and early-term neonates, revealing differences in tactile exploration behaviors, which may have implications for understanding sensory processing in early human development.
