Objective: The aim of this meta-analysis was to answer the following question: 'Is there an association between BMS and stress, compared to healthy controls?'
Methods: Two reviewers searched for the effect of stress in BMS and published on five main databases and three from the grey literature. Various questionnaires and biomarkers were analysed.
Exercise addiction has sparked a growing interest in the scientific and clinical literature, yet this behavioral addiction has mainly been investigated quantitatively, from a positivistic perspective. This article explores the subjective and embodied dimensions of exercise addiction, broadening current conceptions of this emerging, still unofficial mental health category. Building on carnal sociology, and through a thematic analysis of mobile interviews conducted with 17 self-proclaimed "exercise addicts" from Canada, this article examines the interrelations between the embodiment of exercise addiction and the normative social elements at stake in the shaping of the category, providing insights on how exercise is experienced as an addiction.

Painful post-traumatic trigeminal neuropathy (PPTTN) can result from iatrogenic injury to one or more branches of the trigeminal nerve during oral surgical procedures such as tooth extractions. Like other chronic neuropathic pain conditions, PPTTN can significantly alter the patient's quality of life, especially when pharmacological treatment is ineffective or not tolerated. As such, new treatment options have been investigated, including local injections of botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A).

View Article and Find Full Text PDFA woman in her late 80s with severe bronchomalacia was referred to a tertiary orofacial pain clinic for unexplained right unilateral glossodynia of progressive and continuous evolution for the past 8 months, spreading to the ipsilateral labiomental region, associated with ipsilateral hypoacusia. Local and general clinical examinations were unremarkable and routine blood work could not reveal any underlying systemic disease explaining the glossodynia and burning/pricking labiomental pain. Suspecting a painful trigeminal neuropathy secondary to a space-occupying lesion, a cerebral MRI was prescribed, revealing an ipsilateral cerebellopontine angle lesion, compatible with either a schwannoma or meningioma.

Objective: Our prior magnetoencephalographic (MEG) investigations demonstrate that persons with cerebral palsy (CP) have weaker somatosensory cortical activity than neurotypical (NT) controls, which is associated with reduced muscular strength and mobility. While it is clear that cerebral palsy (CP) results in loss of muscle strength and bodily function, and that much of this loss is caused by injury to the central nervous system, muscle is a very plastic tissue that is also dramatically affected.
