Ultrathin electrospun nanofibrous membranes (NfMs) based on poly(γ-benzyl-L-glutamate) (PBLG) were prepared. Scanning electron microscopy analysis revealed the production of a high-quality, bead-free nanofibrous membrane. The membrane thicknesses, ranging from 1.

This study demonstrates a one-step synthesis of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) in the presence of the methyl violet (MV) dye. The structural properties of PEDOT:peroxodisulfate were studied using Raman and MALDI-TOF spectroscopies. The use of the MV dye in the polymerization process resulted in a change in the typical irregular morphology of PEDOT:peroxodisulfate, leading to the formation of spherical patterns.

Three-dimensional and porous polypyrrole (PPy) aerogels were prepared using a facile two-step procedure in which cryogels were synthesized via the cryopolymerization of pyrrole with iron (III) chloride in the presence of supporting water-soluble polymers (poly(-vinylpyrrolidone), poly(vinyl alcohol), gelatin, methylcellulose or hydroxypropylcellulose), followed by freeze-drying to obtain aerogels. The choice of supporting polymers was found to affect the morphology, porosity, electrical conductivity, and mechanical properties of PPy aerogels. PPy aerogels were successfully used as adsorbents to remove toxic Cr(VI) ions from aqueous solutions.

Composites of polyaniline (PANI) and Zr-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), UiO-66 and UiO-66-NH, were synthesized by the oxidative polymerization of aniline in the presence of MOF templates with the MOF content in the resulting materials (78.2 and 86.7 wt %, respectively) close to the theoretical value (91.

Poly(-phenylenediamine)/montmorillonite (PPDA/MMT) composites were prepared by the oxidative polymerization of monomers intercalated within the MMT gallery, using ammonium peroxydisulfate as an oxidant. The intercalation process was evidenced by X-ray powder diffraction. The FT-IR and Raman spectroscopies revealed that, depending on the initial ratio between monomers and MMT in the polymerization mixture, the polymer or mainly oligomers are created during polymerization.

Poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM)-based electrolytes are prepared by dissolving the PAMAM half-generations G1.5 or G2.5 in propylene carbonate (PC), either with lithium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) or sodium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (NaTFSI) salts.

Polyaniline (PANI) and 2,5-dianilino--benzoquinone both are formed by oxidation of aniline in an acidic aqueous environment. The aim of this study is to understand the impact of addition of -benzoquinone on the structure of PANI prepared by the oxidation of aniline hydrochloride with ammonium peroxydisulfate and to elucidate the formation of low-molecular-weight byproducts. An increasing yield and size-exclusion chromatography, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance analyses of the products show that -benzoquinone does not act as a terminating agent in the synthesis of PANI and the content of 2,5-dianilino--benzoquinone increases with the increasing molar concentration of -benzoquinone in the reaction mixture, [BzQ].

By using methyl orange template, polypyrrole nanotubes were obtained by the oxidative polymerization of pyrrole. The nanotubes were carbonized in inert atmosphere to nitrogen-enriched carbon nanotubes. These were subsequently coated with 20 wt% of polypyrrole prepared in the absence or the presence of anionic dyes (methyl orange or Acid Blue 25).

Polypyrrole (PPy) in globular form and as nanotubes were prepared by the oxidation of pyrrole with iron(III) chloride in the absence and presence of methyl orange, respectively. They were subsequently converted to nitrogen-containing carbons at 650 °C in an inert atmosphere. The course of carbonization was followed by thermogravimetric analysis and the accompanying changes in molecular structure by Fourier Transform Infrared and Raman spectroscopies.

The oxidation of aniline with ammonium peroxydisulfate in the aqueous solution of acetic acid has two subsequent phases: the oxidation of the neutral aniline molecules at low acidity, which was followed by the oxidation of the anilinium cations after the acidity became higher. The final polyaniline film deposited on immersed surfaces is usually contaminated with semi-crystalline oligomers which precipitated during induction period from the reaction medium. To obtain a homogeneous film, which is important in the fabrication of many molecular electronic devices, we have studied the course of aniline oxidation in a view of new experimental evidence.

In situ deposited conducting polyaniline films prepared by the oxidation of aniline with ammonium peroxydisulfate in aqueous media of various acidities on gold and silicon supports were characterized by Raman spectroscopy. Enhanced Raman bands were found in the spectra of polyaniline films produced in the solutions of weak acids or in water on gold surface. These bands were weak for the films prepared in solutions of a strong acid on a gold support.

A great number of nano/microscaled morphologies have recently been prepared during the oxidation of aniline. At the early stage of oxidation, aniline oligomers are obtained, often in spectacular morphologies depending on reaction conditions. Herein, the flower-like hierarchical architectures assembled from aniline oligomers by a template-free method are reported.
