The Quantitative phase imaging methods have several advantages when it comes to monitoring cultures of adherent mammalian cells. Because of low photo-toxicity and no need for staining, we can follow cells in a minimally invasive way over a long period of time. The ability to measure the optical path difference in a quantitative manner allows the measurement of the cell dry mass, an important metric for studying the growth kinetics of mammalian cells.

Importance: Staphylococcus aureus infections are associated with recalcitrant chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). The emerging threat of multidrug-resistant S aureus infections has revived interest in bacteriophage (phage) therapy.
Objective: To investigate the safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy of ascending multiple intranasal doses of investigational phage cocktail AB-SA01 in patients with recalcitrant CRS due to S aureus.
Bacteriophage therapy (BT) uses bacteriophages to treat pathogenic bacteria and is an emerging strategy against multidrug-resistant (MDR) infections. Experience in solid organ transplant is limited. We describe BT in 3 lung transplant recipients (LTR) with life-threatening MDR infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa (n = 2) and Burkholderia dolosa (n = 1).

Recent studies have moved characterization of cell migration and invasion from classical 2D culture systems into 1D and 3D model systems, revealing multiple differences in mechanisms of cell adhesion, migration and signalling-even though cells in 3D can still display prominent focal adhesions. Myosin II restrains cell migration speed in 2D culture but is often essential for effective 3D migration.

Hospital Course: The patient developed multidrug resistant (MDR) Pseudomonas aeruginosa pneumonia, persistent respiratory failure, and colistin-induced renal failure. We describe the use of intravenous bacteriophage therapy (BT) along with systemic antibiotics in this patient, lack of adverse events, and clinical resolution of infection with this approach.
Theta oscillations (4-8 Hz) provide an organizing principle of cognitive control, allowing goal-directed behavior. In adults, theta power over medial-frontal cortex (MFC) underlies conflict/error monitoring, whereas theta connectivity between MFC and lateral-frontal regions reflects cognitive control recruitment. Among other characteristics, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are known because of their ability to learn highly discriminative features from raw pixel intensities.
Methods: In this paper, we employed five different ImageNet-trained models (VGG16, VGG19, InceptionV3, ResNet50 and Xception) for automatic glaucoma assessment using fundus images.
Features like small size, low refractive index and polydispersity pose challenges to the currently available detection methods for Extracellular Vesicles (EVs). In addition, the lack of appropriate standards to set up the experimental conditions makes it difficult to compare analyses obtained by different technical approaches. Recent works show that generative adversarial networks (GANs) can be successfully applied to image synthesis and semi-supervised learning, where, given a small labeled database and a large unlabeled database, the goal is to train a powerful classifier. In this paper, we trained a retinal image synthesizer and a semi-supervised learning method for automatic glaucoma assessment using an adversarial model on a small glaucoma-labeled database and a large unlabeled database. Various studies have shown that glaucoma can be monitored by analyzing the optic disc and its surroundings, and for that reason, the images used in this paper were automatically cropped around the optic disc.
