Introduction: Infections caused by multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacilli (MDR-GNB) in critically ill patients present a challenge for timely and appropriate antibiotic treatment. This is particularly important in patients undergoing extracorporeal life-support techniques such as renal replacement therapy and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. These techniques can introduce additional pharmacokinetic alterations, potentially leading to suboptimal exposure to antibiotics.

Method: Observational, prospective, and multicentre study. In the first stage, a national registry of pharmaceutical interventions will be agreed upon and subsequently, all the pharmaceutical interventions performed on adult patients admitted to Spanish ICUs during 8 weeks will be recorded.

Background: Hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine is rare in children. The usefulness of different diagnostic tests for allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is unknown.
Objective: We aim to describe a case series of children with hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine and to compare the results of different diagnostic tests.
The detection of lymph node metastases is essential for breast cancer staging, although it is a tedious and time-consuming task where the sensitivity of pathologists is suboptimal. Artificial intelligence (AI) can help pathologists detect lymph node metastases, which could help alleviate workload issues. We studied how pathologists' performance varied when aided by AI.

We investigated the correlation of Aβ peptides with myocardial injury and inflammation biomarkers in patients with or without ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI, NSTEMI). This singe-center, cross-sectional, observational, and correlation study included 65 patients with ACS ( = 34 STEMI, 29 males, age = 58 ± 12 years; = 31 NSTEMI, 22 males, age = 60 ± 12 years) who were enrolled in the coronary care unit within 12 h after symptom onset from February 2022 to May 2023.

Sunflower broomrape is a parasitic weed that infects sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.

National and international guidelines emphasize the importance of therapeutic education (TE) to achieve disease control. TE involves imparting knowledge and skills to the patient and their family, enhancing medication adherence, rectifying errors in inhalation technique, and tailoring treatment based on individual patient characteristics.

A new race G was observed recently in the Guadalquivir Valley potentially due to the genetic recombination of the avirulence genes of both gene pools.

A proper allergy work-up, based on the gold standard drug provocation test (DPT), usually rules out suspected drug hypersensitivity in children. These tests are generally open, given their high efficiency compared with double-blind placebo-controlled DPTs. Although their negative predictive value is excellent, no studies have calculated their positive predictive value, highly dependent on the prevalence of the disease.

Abiotic stress factors such as NaCl and different values of pH were introduced into the different fermentation process schemes to measure the fungal response. The results showed a higher tolerance of when the fermentation process was carried out in solid-state and immobilized-cell conditions, which mimics the natural state of the soil microorganisms.

Background: Drug provocation tests (DPTs) are considered the gold standard for diagnosing beta-lactam allergy. However, positive results tend to be mild and difficult to interpret. This study aimed to describe pediatric patients with a presumedly positive or inconclusive DPT, assess the decision to repeat the DPT, and describe its outcome.

Introduction: The reported incidence of parapneumonic pleural effusion, including empyema, has shown fluctuations in the last decades. It has been related to the implementation of different types of conjugate pneumococcal vaccines.
Methods: We have retrospectively reviewed data from all 10 public hospitals in Alicante Province (Spain) covering a population of 279,000 children under 15 years of age, between 2010 and 2018.

Background: Anaphylaxis, which is rare, has been reported after COVID-19 vaccination, but its management is not standardized.
Method: Members of the European Network for Drug Allergy and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology interested in drug allergy participated in an online questionnaire on pre-vaccination screening and management of allergic reactions to COVID-19 vaccines, and literature was analysed.
Results: No death due to anaphylaxis to COVID-19 vaccines has been confirmed in scientific literature.
Respiratory diseases remain a significant cause of global morbidity and mortality and primary care plays a central role in their prevention, diagnosis and management. An e-Delphi process was employed to identify and prioritise the current respiratory research needs of primary care health professionals worldwide. One hundred and twelve community-based physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals from 27 high-, middle- and low-income countries suggested 608 initial research questions, reduced after evidence review by 27 academic experts to 176 questions covering diagnosis, management, monitoring, self-management and prognosis of asthma, COPD and other respiratory conditions (including infections, lung cancer, tobacco control, sleep apnoea).

In pediatric patients, severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs) frequently occur in the course of acute illnesses, mostly infections, which are usually treated with antibiotics or analgesics. The drug provocation test (DPT) is contraindicated in such situations, due to the risk of triggering a new severe reaction. As a consequence, lifelong avoidance is recommended.

Asthma is one of the main chronic diseases in childhood, due to its high prevalence and its social and health costs. This document is a summary of a consensus guideline approved by 6 Spanish pediatric societies related to asthma and endorsed by the Spanish Pediatric Association. Asthma is easily identifiable by clinical criteria in most patients.
