Aflatoxin contamination significantly threatens food safety and security, particularly in tropical and sub-tropical regions where staple crops such as maize, groundnut, and sorghum become frequently affected. This contamination is primarily caused by the fungus . The contamination causes adverse health effects, reduced income, and trade restrictions.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAnthracnose, the most critical disease affecting olive fruits, is caused by Colletotrichum species. While developing olive fruits are immune to the pathogen regardless of the cultivar, the resistance level varies once the fruit ripens. The defense mechanisms responsible for this difference in resistance are not well understood.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small, noncoding RNA molecules that play a role in gene regulation processes and appear to be a promising biological target for convulsion control. These molecules have been reported as constituents of the internal content of exosomes, which are small extracellular vesicles released by cells.

This study aims to evaluate whether comparison-oriented gamification can effectively improve various aspects of health and well-being, including physical activity, sedentary behavior, sleep, and overall quality of life among young adults.
Methods: Potential 107 young adults (from 19 to 28 years old) participated in an 8-week trial.
Background And Aims: Olive (Olea europaea subsp. europaea var. europaea) is the most extensively cultivated fruit crop worldwide.

The aim of this study was to compare the correlation of radiological response evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) vs computed tomography (CT) vs ultrasound with histopathological findings.
Methods: A retrospective single-center study was performed.
Background: The limitation of ischemia times, which damages the organs and impacts transplant outcomes, is a drawback of controlled donation after circulatory death.
Methods: The aim of the study was to analyze the influence of preservation and ischemia times on overall survival and both censured graft survival and overall graft survival. This was an observational and retrospective study of patients undergoing liver transplantation with grafts from controlled donation after circulatory death between November 2013 and November 2022.
Aflatoxins are carcinogens produced by the fungi and that contaminate pistachio crops. International markets reject pistachio when aflatoxins exceed permitted maximum levels. Releasing the atoxigenic strain AF36 of is the leading aflatoxin pre-harvest control method.

The extent, however, to which climate change has driven recent range shifts alongside other putative drivers remains uncertain. Here, we use the changing distributions of 378 European breeding bird species over 30 years to explore the putative drivers of recent range dynamics, considering the effects of climate, land cover, other environmental variables, and species' traits on the probability of local colonisation and extinction.

Ketogenic diets have been successfully used in people and dogs with idiopathic epilepsy. This study examined the effect of a ketogenic medium chain triglycerides (MCT)- enriched diet administered for one month on the fecal microbiota of epileptic ( = 11) (six with drug-sensitive epilepsy, DSE; five with drug-refractory epilepsy, DRE) and non-epileptic beagle dogs ( = 12). A significant reduction after diet in the relative abundance of bacteria from the Actinobacteria phylum was observed in all dogs.

A dominant Colletotrichum species and several secondary species have been identified in each olive-growing region. This study surveys the interspecific competition between C.

We have assessed the feasibility of using intercropping (faba bean mixed with either pea, wheat or barley) or mixtures of susceptible and resistant cultivars to control rust both under field and controlled conditions. The results of four field intercropping experiments showed a significant reduction in rust severity on faba bean when intercropped with barley (average 22% reduction) but not with the other combinations.

It updates evidence to offer the best chronic renal failure treatment when a potential living donor is available. The core aim of this Guide is to supply clinicians who evaluate living donors and transplant recipients with the best decision-making tools, to optimise their outcomes.

The primary inoculum sources of these pathogens are plant debris in the orchard soils. In Californian fields, one approach to controlling aflatoxin contamination is based on releasing the atoxigenic strain of AF36 in inoculated (coated) sorghum grains (AF36 Prevail).

Introduction: The reported incidence of parapneumonic pleural effusion, including empyema, has shown fluctuations in the last decades. It has been related to the implementation of different types of conjugate pneumococcal vaccines.
Methods: We have retrospectively reviewed data from all 10 public hospitals in Alicante Province (Spain) covering a population of 279,000 children under 15 years of age, between 2010 and 2018.
Olive mill wastes, generated in the extraction of virgin olive oil (VOO), are of important concern for the industry owing to the produced volume and polluting load, mainly associated with the presence of organic compounds. Among them, it is worth mentioning bioactive compounds, mainly phenols and triterpenes, which could be potentially isolated for further use in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, or food industries. This research analyzed the olive pomace after extraction of VOO from fruits harvested of 43 international olive cultivars during three consecutive seasons.

In California, the global leader of almond production, aflatoxin can be managed by applying the biological control strain AF36 of and selecting resistant cultivars. Here, we classified the almond genotypes by K-Means cluster analysis into three groups (susceptible [S], moderately susceptible [MS], or resistant [R]) based on aflatoxin content of inoculated kernels.
