Background: Muscle fatigue is characterized by a decrease in muscle performance, accompanied by an increase in perceived exertion to produce a desired amount of force. The duration of the fatigue effects is not completely clear regarding postural sway and force production in athletes.
Research Question: What is the effect of a specific fatigue protocol in postural sway and force production in female handball athletes and the recovery time necessary for these variables?
Methods: Twenty female handball athletes participated in this study.
Lebiasinidae is a Neotropical freshwater family widely distributed throughout South and Central America. Due to their often very small body size, Lebiasinidae species are cytogenetically challenging and hence largely underexplored. However, the available but limited karyotype data already suggested a high interspecific variability in the diploid chromosome number (2), which is pronounced in the speciose genus , a popular taxon in ornamental fish trade due to its remarkable body coloration.

Chemical modification of natural polymers has been commonly employed for the development of new bio-based materials, aiming at adjusting specific properties such as solubility, biodegradability, thermal stability and mechanical behavior. Among all natural polymers, polysaccharides are promising materials, in which biodegradability, processability and bioreactivity make them suitable for biomedical applications. In this context, this work describes the synthesis and characterization of a novel amphiphilic pullulan-g-poly(ε-caprolactone) (Pull-g-PCL) graft copolymer.

Lebiasinidae is a small fish family composed by miniature to small-sized fishes with few cytogenetic data (most of them limited to descriptions of diploid chromosome numbers), thus preventing any evolutionary comparative studies at the chromosomal level. In the present study, we are providing, the first cytogenetic data for the red spotted tetra, Copeina guttata, including the standard karyotype, C-banding, repetitive DNA mapping by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and comparative genomic hybridization (CGH), providing chromosomal patterns and novel insights into the karyotype differentiation of the family. Males and females share diploid chromosome number 2n = 42 and karyotype composed of 2 metacentric (m), 4 submetacentric (sm) and 36 subtelocentric to acrocentric (st-a) chromosomes.

In addition, it should take into account technological, social and spatial aspects, among others. Decision making methodologies need to address this set of information , and there is a small group of them with focus on epidemiological purposes, in particular Spatial Decision Support Systems (SDSS).

Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to investigate the influence of resin-based luting agents loaded with different inorganic filler content, with or without an adhesive, on microtensile bond strength, biaxial flexural strength, and the adhesive interface morphology of bonded ceramic specimens.
Material And Methods: Experimental resin-based luting agents with low (55wt%), intermediate (65wt%), and high (75wt%) filler contents were bonded to ceramic specimens, with or without a layer of adhesive.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of environmental and socioeconomic characteristics with the use of dental floss in preschool children. This cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 402 preschool children aged 1-5 years, from Santa Cruz do Sul, a Southern city in Brazil. Mothers answered questions about environmental, demographic, and socioeconomic characteristics.

The adhesives tested were Ambar Universal, G-Bond, Single Bond Universal, Tetric N-Bond Universal, and Ybond Universal. Gold standard adhesives (Scotchbond Multipurpose Plus and Clearfil SE Bond) were controls.

Diseased lungs generate adventitious sounds that propagate through the thorax, reaching the surface where they may be heard or recorded. The attenuation imposed to the lung sounds by the thorax depends on the physical characteristics of each patient, hampering the analysis of quantitative indexes measured to assist the diagnosis of cardiorespiratory disorders. This work proposes the application of a blind equalizer (eigenvector algorithm - EVA) to reduce the effects of thorax attenuation on indexes measured from crackle sounds.

We investigated the critical point between the avoidance and accommodation strategies when dealing with a hole in the ground during locomotion of young and older adults. Young and older adults performed two tasks: verbal estimation and walking.

This study analyzed the use of a new elastin polymer matrix combined with Bone Morphogenetic Protein for the repair of cranial defects in rats. Thirty rats were divided into five groups: control (C) defect without graft, E24 (defect filled with elastin matrix submitted to alkaline hydrolysis at 50°C for 24 h), E24/BMP (defect filled with elastin matrix treated at 50°C for 24 h plus BMP), E96 (defect filled with elastin matrix treated at 37°C for 96 h) and E96/BMP (defect filled with elastin matrix treated at 37°C for 96 h plus BMP).

Background & Aims: Phase angle (PhA) has been used as a prognostic indicator in several clinical situations. However, the use of PhA as a prognostic tool in bariatric patients is less known. The aim of this study was to evaluate PhA as a prognostic index and its correlation with the prognostic inflammatory and nutritional index (PINI) during follow-up of women subjected to bariatric surgery.

Representatives of the family Lebiasinidae (Characiformes) are a notable example, where only a few cytogenetic investigations have been conducted thus far. Here, we aim to elucidate the evolutionary processes behind the karyotype differentiation of species on a finer-scale cytogenetic level.

Methods: Modulus of elasticity, Poisson's ratio, and degree of CC conversion were measured for three restorative composite resins (Z100-microhybrid; Empress Direct-nanohybrid; Estelite Omega-supranano) and one photoactivated resin cement (RelyX Veneer). Viscosity was measured during a heating-cooling curve (25°C-69°C-25°C) and also using isothermal analyses at 25°C and 69°C.
Background: Asymmetrical load-carrying while walking requires modifications in joint forces to compensate the extra mass and ensure body stability, particularly when the environment is uneven, such as with a curb. Carrying a bag with one hand (dominant or non-dominant) may constrain the movement of the arm, altering the interlimb coordination of the upper limbs. Prior studies did not show changes in interlimb coordination when a light load was attached to the wrist, but the use of a bag to carry the load can be potentially disturbing since exaggerated movements of the bags may compromise balance.

Introduction: There is an increasing demand for multi-organ donors for organ transplantation programmes. This study protocol describes the Donation Network to Optimise Organ Recovery Study, a planned cluster randomised controlled trial that aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of an evidence-based, goal-directed checklist for brain-dead potential organ donor management in intensive care units (ICUs) in reducing the loss of potential donors due to cardiac arrest.
Methods And Analysis: The study will include ICUs of at least 60 Brazilian sites with an average of ≥10 annual notifications of valid potential organ donors.

This study aimed at investigating the existence of host epigenetic markers arising from the principal arboviruses infections impacting on human health. We set to systematically review all published evidence describing any epigenetic modifications associated with infections from arboviruses, including, but not limited to, microRNAs, DNA methylation, and histone modifications.
