Objectives: to identify the perception of nursing professionals on human errors in nursing care at a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and to assess Best Practices strategies proposed by these professionals for patient safety in nursing care.

Methods: this is a quantitative-qualitative, descriptive study. Setting: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Targeting Trypanosoma evansi with disulphide-rich peptides derived from a phage display library.

A phage-display library was generated using a Bus thalamus scorpion toxin (BTK-2) as a peptide scaffold. BTK-2 belongs to the disulfide-rich family of proteins with pronounced structural stability due to the presence of three disulfide bridges that connects antiparallel beta-sheets and one alpha helix. Using BTK-2 as a phage display scaffold, we introduced mutations in five residues located in the alpha-helix and two residues located in the smaller loop, keeping intact the disulfide bridges to create a peptide phage-displayed library with disulfide-rich family properties.

The treatment of pharmaceutical industrial wastewaters, containing the antibiotic amoxicillin (218.29 mg L), via some advanced oxidation processes (POA), was studied. The HO photolysis process presented the highest percentage of mineralization (97%), after the total reaction time (180 min).

Amphiphilicity is the most critical parameter in the self-assembly of surfactant-like peptides (SLPs), regulating the way by which hydrophobic attraction holds peptides together. Its effects go beyond supramolecular assembly and may also trigger different cell responses of bioactive peptide-based nanostructures. Herein, we investigate the self-assembly and cellular effects of nanostructures based on isomeric SLPs composed by arginine (R) and phenylalanine (F).

Degree of conversion of resin cements polymerized under different ceramic systems.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the degree of conversion of resin cements polymerized under different ceramic systems. Forty specimens of RelyX ARC (3M ESPE) and Maxcem Elite (Kerr) resin cements were polymerized under 5 types of dental ceramics: feldspathic, aluminum oxide-reinforced, aluminum oxide-based strengthened with zirconium oxide, leucite-reinforced, and lithium disilicate-reinforced. Measurements of the degree of conversion of the resin cements were performed 10 minutes, 1 hour, and 24 hours after curing using a Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer.

Background: The safety profile of biologic drugs might present substantial regional differences. Since 2009, the Brazilian Society of Rheumatology has maintained BIOBADABRASIL (Brazilian Registry for Biologic Drugs), a registry for monitoring of biologic therapies in rheumatic diseases.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to verify the incidence rate (IR) of serious infections in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and spondyloarthritis (SpA) patients on biologic drugs.

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of perampanel (PER) in late adjunctive treatment of focal epilepsy. We assessed outcomes 1) according to patients' clinical profiles and the broad mechanism of action (MoA) of concomitant antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) and 2) the effects of PER on adverse events, irritability, mood, and quality of life (QOL).

The Role of the Auditory and Visual Modalities in the Perceptual Identification of Brazilian Portuguese Statements and Echo Questions.

This paper presents the results of three perceptual experiments investigating the role of auditory and visual channels for the identification of statements and echo questions in Brazilian Portuguese. Ten Brazilian speakers (five male) were video-recorded (frontal view of the face) while they produced a sentence (""), either as a statement (meaning "") or as an echo question (meaning "?"). Experiments were set up including the two different intonation contours.

Improvement of conjunctival cytological grade and tear production in Ankylosing Spondylitis patients under TNF inhibitors: a long-term follow-up.

Dry eye disease can compromise the patient's quality of life. Few studies assessed the ocular surface (OS) in Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) patients. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical and cytological findings of the OS in patients with AS, classify dry eye disease (DED) severity grade and conjunctival impression cytology (IC), and the effects of TNF inhibitors (TNFi) in a one-year follow-up.

Abatacept induced long-term non-progressive reduction in gamma-globulins and autoantibodies: dissociation from disease activity control.

Objectives: To evaluate long-term effects on gamma-globulins and autoantibodies of abatacept (ABA) versus tumor necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFi) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients.

Prevalence and Management of Urinary Incontinence in a Brazilian Hospital: A Prospective, Descriptive Study.

Unlabelled: Although urinary incontinence (UI) in hospitalized patients is a frequent health problem, research on the subject is limited.

Purpose: A prospective, descriptive study was conducted to evaluate the prevalence of UI, care implemented among hospitalized adult patients, and impact of UI on quality of life (QoL) in a large private institution in Brazil.

Methods: All patients admitted during November 2018 who were at least 18 years of age, sufficiently conscious and oriented to answer questions, able to undergo skin inspection, and had the ability to urinate (ie, did not use an indwelling bladder catheter or have a nephrostomy, cystostomy, urostomy, or vesicostomy) were eligible to participate.

Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome in children: case report and case series from an endemic area of Brazil.

Hantavirus Cardiopulmonary Syndrome (HCPS) is an important emergent zoonosis associated with wild rodents in Brazil, where this viral infection in children is generally rare. We present HCPS in a child from the Pantanal Biome and a review of all reported pediatric cases in Mato Grosso State, an endemic area for HCPS in Brazil. The spread of the exotic species Hovenia dulcis known as Japanese raisin tree, coming from Asia, detected in a protected area of 465.0 ha surrounding the city of Santa Cruz do Sul, RS, Brazil, named "Green Belt." In this context, this research aimed at developing an aerial monitoring system able to identify and quantify the extension in the Green Belt area that this species invaded, as well as describing the impacts caused on the local forest community.

Background: The objectives of this study were to identify loci, positional candidate genes, gene-sets, and pathways associated with spontaneous abortion (SA) in cattle and compare these results with previous human SA studies to determine if cattle are a good SA model for humans. Pregnancy was determined at gestation day 35 for Holstein heifers and cows. Genotypes from 43,984 SNPs of 499 pregnant heifers and 498 pregnant cows that calved at full term (FT) were compared to 62 heifers and 28 cows experiencing SA.

Brazil is undergoing a rapid nutrition transition with unfavorable effects on dietary healthiness. To counteract this trend, knowledge about individual drivers of consumption is needed that go beyond environmental factors. The Eating Motivation Survey represents a comprehensive measure of such individual drivers, assessing 15 eating motives, such as choosing food for health reasons or eating because of a good taste.
