Comparison of Revision ACL Reconstruction Using Iliotibial Band Augmented With Allograft Versus Bone-Patellar Tendon-Bone Autograft With Lateral Extra-articular Tenodesis.

Background: Bone-patellar tendon-bone (BTB) anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) is one of the conventional techniques in the revision setting especially after a primary hamstring tendon graft. The use of the iliotibial band (ITB) augmented with allograft (AG) is an encouraging graft alternative for ACLR in terms of clinical and biomechanical data in the literature.

Purpose: To compare the clinical outcomes of BTB graft with lateral extra-articular tenodesis, modified Lemaire (BTB-LET), and an ITB graft augmented with hamstring AG (ITB-AG) in the setting of revision ACLR.

Posterior tibial slope (PTS) ≥ 10 degrees is a risk factor for further anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury; BMI is not.

Purpose: This case-control study aimed to assess the influence of BMI and PTS on subsequent ACL injury affecting either ACL graft or the native ACL of the contralateral knee after primary ACL reconstruction.

Methods: A retrospective case-control study was performed using a cohort of patients who underwent arthroscopic ACL reconstruction between 2010 and 2020 using the same surgical procedure: Hamstring tendon autograft. The study group (group I) included all the patients (n = 94) during this period who sustained a subsequent ACL injury.

An unusual midfoot injury pattern: Navicular-cuneiform and calcaneal-cuboid fracture-dislocation.

Fracture-dislocations of the midfoot are relatively rare injuries. We present a case of a 20-year-old man presenting with navicular-cuneiform and calcaneal-cuboid fracture-dislocation of his right foot due to a crush injury during work. The patient's injury was treated by open reduction internal fixation.

Background: Protocols for effective postoperative pain control in patients undergoing spinal surgery are not standardized. In our study, we compared the effects of hemostatic absorbable gelatin sponge impregnated with ropivacaine versus normal saline when applied to the transverse process of the operated vertebrae on the postoperative pain following instrumentation spine surgery.

Methods: A prospective double-blind randomized study was conducted on 30 patients undergoing spine surgery.

Cystic lymphangiomas are benign tumors originating mainly in the head and neck of the pediatric population. The authors report a rare case of cystic lymphangioma in the right elbow of an 8-month-old baby treated successfully by complete surgical resection.
