To fill this gap, we recorded - in three participants in an ongoing human clinical trial (NCT01894802) for people with paralyzed hands - the responses evoked in the hand and arm representations of M1 during intracortical microstimulation (ICMS) in the hand representation of S1. We found that ICMS of S1 activated some M1 neurons at short, fixed latencies consistent with monosynaptic activation.

In this study, we aimed to determine whether chronic circadian dysregulation can drive NAFLD-related carcinogenesis from human hepatocytes and human HCC progression.
Methods: Chronic jet lag of mice with humanized livers induces spontaneous NAFLD-related HCCs from human hepatocytes.
The mental health of health professionals who worked directly in services during the COVID-19 pandemic to care for patients affected by the disease became a fundamental issue to be considered, given the several consequences of this activity for these professionals. This article aimed to understand the challenges and demands of health professionals concerning support to address the emotional and physical exhaustion of working on the so-called frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic. The transcriptional co-activator PGC-1a is a master regulator of mitochondrial function and is highly expressed in the brain; however, its cell-type specific role in regulating metabolism has not been well established. Here, we show that PGC-1a is responsive to aging and that expression of the neuron specific PGC-1a isoform allows for specialization in metabolic adaptation.

Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) represent an important evaluation of health-related quality of life that has become more commonly incorporated into oncology drug clinical trials. The frequency of PRO inclusion as an endpoint in oncology drug clinical trials leading to the initial accelerated approval of a new therapy is not yet known. We conducted a cross-sectional study evaluating all new drug applications submitted to the FDA over the past 10 years (2013-2022) that led to the initial approval of an oncology drug through the accelerated approval process.
