Stressful life events and glucocorticoid (stress) hormones appear to increase the risk of Alzheimer's disease and hasten its progression, but the reasons for this remain unclear. One potential explanation is that when amyloid β (Aβ) pathology is accumulating in the preclinical disease stage, glucocorticoid receptor signalling during stressful events exacerbates cellular dysfunction caused by Aβ. Alternatively, Aβ may disrupt glucocorticoid receptor signalling.

Two-way ANOVA experimental design was applied with three substitution sources: animal protein sources (tuna byproduct meal (TBM), chicken byproduct meal (CBM), and meat meal (MM)) and two FM substitution levels (25% and 50%). The control (Con) diet contained 60% FM.

Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG), a phenolic catechin enriched in green tea, is recognized for its anti-bacterial and anti-biofilm activities. In this study, we examined the protein components of the biofilms formed in the absence or presence of EGCG using and which had shown opposing patterns in biofilm formation.

Dysfunctional interactions between the gut microbiota and the gut immune system can lead to the development of skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis (AD). Probiotics and postbiotics positively affect the balance of the gut microbiota, immune regulation, protection against pathogens, and barrier integrity.

Purpose: Eye morphology varies significantly across the population, especially for the orbit and optic nerve. These variations limit the feasibility and robustness of generalizing population-wise features of eye organs to an unbiased spatial reference.
Approach: To tackle these limitations, we propose a process for creating high-resolution unbiased eye atlases.
Arginine is a conditionally essential amino acid with known roles in protein production, nitric oxide synthesis, biosynthesis of proline and polyamines, and regulation of intracellular signaling pathways. Arginine biosynthesis and catabolism have been linked to TGF-β-induced activation of fibroblasts in the context of pulmonary fibrosis; however, a thorough study on the metabolic and signaling roles of arginine in the process of fibroblast activation has not been conducted. Here, we used metabolic dropouts and labeling strategies to determine how activated fibroblasts utilize arginine.

In this work, we propose a novel yet simple fabrication process for a microchannel with a cruciform section, where elasto-inertial particle focusing is explored in a viscoelastic fluid. SU-8 master molds for polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) structures were fabricated via standard photolithography, and then plasma bonding, following self-alignment between two PDMS structures, was performed for the formation of a microchannel with a cruciform section.

Objective: This retrospective study aims to analyze the results of Le Fort I fracture treatment, with a focus on addressing malocclusion related to the fractures.
Methods: The study included 43 patients diagnosed with Le Fort I fractures who underwent open reduction and internal fixation.
This study combines high-throughput screening and virtual molecular docking to identify natural compounds targeting PKC in skin aging. Go 6983, a PKC inhibitor, showed potent suppression of MMP-1 transcription. EGCG was one of the candidates that showed it could significantly lower UVB-induced MMP-1 expression in HaCaT cells, and it had a strong affinity for PKCα.

Methods: The study utilized two molecular methods, RT-qPCR and colorimetric RT-LAMP, to diagnose the RdRp and ORF8 genes, respectively, in oro-nasopharyngeal swabs. Due to the high sequence diversity of ORF8 in SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2, it has been identified as a suitable target for virus detection.
Chronic cough is a complex disorder that affects up to 5-10% of the general population. It can be challenging to manage as there are few effective treatments, although several novel antitussives are in clinical development. The endpoints used to assess their efficacy in clinical trials should be optimal; most large clinical trials currently use objective measures as the primary outcome, especially cough frequency.

Although an inhibitory drug interaction exists between them, comprehensive large-scale studies for its validation are lacking. We investigated interactions between CCBs and clopidogrel using a large-scale national registry of patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

The systematic quality improvement project aimed to standardize care and improve outcomes by addressing issues such as prolonged hospital stays, delayed extubation and limited post-operative mobility. By comparing clinical outcomes with benchmarks, the project identified opportunities for improvement, including early ambulation, timely extubation, reduced mortality, readmission rates and length of stay.

Digital therapeutics (DTx) are emerging as a transformative innovation in healthcare offering evidence-based digital interventions for the treatment, management, and prevention of various diseases and disorders. In Korea, DTx have gained significant attention as potential solutions to the increasing burden of chronic diseases and mental health conditions. However, the Korean DTx market faces several challenges that hinder its widespread adoption and integration into the national healthcare system.

Consequently, identifying and excluding potential hERG channel blockers at the earliest stages of drug development is crucial. Most traditional machine learning models predict a molecule's cardiotoxicity or non-cardiotoxicity typically at 10 μM, which doesn't account for compounds with low IC values that are non-toxic at therapeutic levels due to their high effectiveness at lower concentrations.
