Oncostatin M (OSM) plays a crucial role in diverse inflammatory reactions. Although the food bioactive compound naringenin (NAR) exerts various useful effects, including antitussive, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, renoprotective, antiarthritic, antitumor, antioxidant, neuroprotective, antidepressant, antinociceptive, antiatherosclerotic, and antidiabetic effects, the modulatory mechanism of NAR on OSM expression in neutrophils has not been specifically reported. In the current work, we studied whether NAR modulates OSM release in neutrophil-like differentiated (d)HL-60 cells.

Central Hearing Loss in a Pediatric Patient.

Sensorineural hearing loss is typically caused by dysfunction of the inner ear or auditory nerve. In pediatric patients diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss, work-up often includes genetic testing and imaging studies of the auditory pathway. Here, we report a case of a pediatric patient with a history of sensorineural hearing loss following cisplatin and radiation therapy for brainstem medulloblastoma, developing symptoms and signs of central hearing loss based on audiometric and MRI/diffusion tensor imaging studies.

Tribochemical silicoating of amalgam promotes effective amalgam-resin repairs.

The purpose of this study was to determine the most effective method for bonding composite resin to artificially aged amalgam. A spherical amalgam alloy was triturated and condensed by hand into cylindrical plastic molds (6 mm in diameter and 4 mm in height) to create 90 specimens, which were then aged for 2 weeks in closed plastic containers at 23°C. The amalgam surfaces underwent 1 of 3 surface treatments (n = 30 per treatment): (1) air particle abrasion (APA) with 50-μm aluminum oxide particles applied with a force of 45 psi from a 10-mm distance, followed by rinsing with deionized water for 60 seconds; (2) APA following the same protocol with subsequent application of a metal primer (Alloy Primer); or (3) coating with 30-μm silica (CoJet) at a force of 45 psi from a 10-mm distance until the surface turned black.

The aim of this work was to compare quantitative macro- and microstructural properties of subcortical gray matter structures of pediatric CHD patients with normal appearing brain magnetic resonance imaging to healthy controls.

Water stress is a major cause of yield loss in peanut cultivation. Melatonin seed priming has been used to enhance stress tolerance in several crops, but not in peanut. We investigated the impact of seed priming with melatonin on the growth, development, and drought tolerance of two peanut cultivars, TUFRunner™ '511', a drought tolerant cultivar, and New Mexico Valencia A, a drought sensitive cultivar.

Surface modification of chitosan with Ni(II) Schiff base complex: A new heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of xanthones.

A new biocomposite of chitosan, chitosan-supported di(pyridine-2-yl)methanone-Ni(II) complex, CS-DPM-Ni, is synthesized for the first time. The biocomposite is thoroughly characterized by FTIR, PXRD, XPS, FESEM, EDX, TGA, ICP-OES, and elemental analysis. The synthesized composite is successfully used as a heterogeneous catalyst in the synthesis of a library of xanthone derivatives by the intermolecular catalytical coupling of 2-substituted benzaldehydes and phenols.

Objective: To determine whether nonopioid analgesic regimens, taken after discharge for thyroid and parathyroid surgery have noninferior pain outcomes in comparison to opioid analgesic regimens. Functional Reconstruction of Through and Through Cheek Defect with Free Composite Bi-pedalled Anterolateral Thigh Flap.

Unlabelled: Extensive composite defects involving the lip and cheek present difficult reconstructive challenges in view of functional recovery like oral competence, articulation, speech and mastication. This study presents our results of reconstructing through and through cheek defect with the use of free anterolateral thigh (ALT) flaps. All the patients with carcinoma of buccal mucosa and cheek who underwent through and through cheek resection and reconstructed with free composite pedalled anterolateral thigh flap between March 2019 to March 2020 were included in the study.
