Given the increasing global prevalence of metabolic syndrome, this study aimed to assess the potential of MRI-derived radiomics in noninvasively grading fibrosis. The study included 79 prospectively enrolled participants who had undergone MRE due to known or suspected liver disease between November 2022 and September 2023. Among them, 48 patients were diagnosed with histopathologically confirmed liver fibrosis.

Aims: We investigated the association between serum ferritin levels and liver-related events (LREs) in individuals with steatotic liver disease (SLD).
Methods: This cohort study included 17,560 adults with SLD (MASLD [n = 15,744], MASLD with increased alcohol intake (MetALD) [n = 1103] and cryptogenic SLD [n = 713]) without LRE at baseline.
Photothermal therapy has gained great attention as an alternative candidate for radiation therapy or chemotherapy for cancers. However, photothermal agents for photothermal therapy are generally in the form of nanoparticles that are too small to remain in the target tissue, and therefore, the agents are rather quickly removed from the targeted site. Furthermore, conventional photothermal agents are generally expensive or complicated to synthesize.

Subclassification includes metabolic dysfunction-associated SLD (MASLD), MASLD with increased alcohol intake (MetALD), and cryptogenic SLD. This study aimed to investigate whether SLD and its subclassification could stratify hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) risk.

Methods: This is a retrospective, single-center, case-series study involving 20 eyes of 18 patients with PNV who did not respond to bevacizumab or ranibizumab and had to switch to aflibercept. Optical coherence tomography images were assessed before and after switching of intravitreal injection drug.
Invasive species pose a threat to the ecological balance of the ecosystems they invade by altering local host-pathogen dynamics. To investigate these relationships and their potential consequences, we examined the prevalence and genetic diversity patterns of Trypanosomatidae, Lipotrophidae, and Nosematidae in a collection of sympatric isolates of the invasive hornet Vespa velutina and local Hymenoptera from two recently colonized areas: Europe and South Korea. Data were gathered through PCR amplification and massive parallel sequencing, and analyses were conducted using population genetics tools.

The study aimed to determine whether these coated particles could reduce phagocytosis, and target specific organs, thereby enhancing drug delivery efficacy. In this study, discoidal polymeric particles (DPPs) were synthesized by a top-down fabrication method serving as the core drug delivery platform.

Methods: In this study, 193 patients (average age 70.5 years; average PSA 7.
Purpose To determine whether the unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) method with generated images improves the performance of a supervised learning (SL) model for prostate cancer (PCa) detection using multisite biparametric (bp) MRI datasets. Materials and Methods This retrospective study included data from 5150 patients (14 191 samples) collected across nine different imaging centers. A novel UDA method using a unified generative model was developed for PCa detection using multisite bpMRI datasets.

This study aimed to examine whether glycemic burden management could be one way to improve outcomes of early-stage HCC. A total of 137 very early or early-stage HCC patients who underwent resection or ablation at Samsung Medical Center and had glycemic burden assessment were analyzed.

For an ongoing systematic study of Korean Vespidae, we analyzed the complete mitochondrial genome of a social wasp, (Linnaeus 1758), from the South Korea. The mitogenome is 17,521 bp in length, comprising 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, and two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes. The nucleotide composition is 40.

Traditional species interaction models often fail to capture the complexity of invasive species dynamics. This study used association rule learning (ARL) and clustering analyses to explore the interactions of V.

Preliminary evidence has shown comparable sensitivity to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), but consistency between users has yet to be described. Our objective was to assess agreement of MUS interpretation across multiple readers.

This study aims to identify sex-specific gene mutations and explore their clinical significance in ccRCC. We used data from The Cancer Genome Atlas-Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma (TCGA-KIRC), The Renal Cell Cancer-European Union (RECA-EU) and Korean-KIRC.

While previous studies have shown the benefits of surveillance for middle-aged patients, but its necessity for elderly patients is unclear. This study aimed to assess the benefits of HCC surveillance in the elderly by comparing diagnosis mode of HCC.

The objective of this review was to examine current research studies outlining effective interventions and strategies to assist older adults during their transition from driver to driving retirement or cessation.
Research Design And Methods: A search was completed across 9 databases using key words and MeSH terms for drivers, cessation of driving, and older adult drivers.
Background/aims: Atezolizumab and bevacizumab have shown promising results for the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in clinical trials. In this study, the real-world efficacy and safety of atezolizumab and bevacizumab in treating advanced HCC were evaluated.
Methods: In this retrospective study of patients at a Korean tertiary cancer center, 111 patients with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage B or C HCC received atezolizumab and bevacizumab as first-line therapy from May 2022 to June 2023.
Rationale And Objectives: To assess a deep learning application (DLA) for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) detection on brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the emergency room (ER) and the effect of T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) on its performance.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed brain MRIs taken through the ER from March to October 2021 that included diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) sequences. MRIs were processed by the DLA, and sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) were evaluated, with three neuroradiologists establishing the gold standard for detection performance.
