In this system, which has recently been commercialized by Protein Capture Science, LLC under the name iCapTag , the N-terminal segment of an engineered split intein is covalently immobilized onto a capture resin, while the smaller C-terminal intein segment is fused to the N-terminus of the desired target protein. The tagged target can then be expressed in an appropriate expression system, without concern for premature intein cleaving.

Design: A 2-stage survey to demonstrate probability of infection at 2% design prevalence within oyster growing regions and to detect at least one infected region (4% design prevalence) with 95% confidence.
Sample Population: Magallana gigas in nominated oyster growing regions in New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania as approved by the Aquatic Consultative Committee on Emergency Animal Diseases and documented in a national surveillance plan.
Organismal behavior, with its tremendous complexity and diversity, is generated by numerous physiological systems acting in coordination. View Article and Find Full Text PDFThis study aimed to generate data on performance characteristics for 2 real-time TaqMan PCR assays (CSIRO and WOAH WSSV qPCRs) for the purposes of (1) detection of white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) in clinically diseased prawns and (2) detection of WSSV in apparently healthy prawns. Analytical sensitivity of both assays was 2 to 20 genome copies per reaction, and analytical specificity was 100% after testing nucleic acid from 9 heterologous prawn pathogens and 4 prawn species. Results obtained after testing more than 20 000 samples in up to 559 runs with the CSIRO WSSV qPCR and up to 293 runs with the WOAH WSSV qPCR demonstrated satisfactory repeatability for both assays.

Methods: This prospective cohort study included all major trauma admissions during the 10-week period of the nationwide lockdown (09/03/2020-18/05/2020), compared with admissions in the 10-weeks following the full lifting of lockdown restrictions (04/07/20-12/09/2020). Differences in the volume, spectrum and mechanism of injuries presenting during and post-lockdown were compared using Fisher's exact and Chi-squared tests as appropriate.
Wild Acetes sibogae australis from northern Moreton Bay, Australia displaying opacity of the hepatopancreas were sampled and examined histologically, revealing infection by multinucleate plasmodia of a haplosporidian-like parasite in the epithelial cells of the hepatopancreas. A morphological and phylogenetic investigation identified the parasite as a novel species of the order Haplosporida, and the parasite is described as Haplosporidium acetes n. sp.

Photocathodes are essential components for various applications requiring photon-to-free-electron conversion, for example, high-sensitivity photodetectors and electron injectors for free-electron lasers. Alkali antimonide thin films are widely used as photocathode materials owing to their high quantum efficiency (QE) in the visible spectral range; however, their lifetime can be limited even in ultrahigh vacuum due to their high reactivity to residual gases and sensitivity to ion back-bombardment in these applications. An ambitious technical challenge is to extend the lifetime of bialkali photocathodes by coating them with suitable materials that can isolate the photocathode films from residual gases while still maintaining their highly emissive properties.

The cytopathic effect caused by isolate AFIV-16 presented as cell rounding and enlargement, but complete destruction of the infected cell cultures did not occur. The infected cells demonstrated immunocytochemical reactivity with monoclonal antibody M10, which is used for diagnosis of OIE-listed red sea bream iridoviral disease.
