Objective: This study investigated the impact of transcranial direct stimulation (tDCS) on pain perception, baroreflex sensitivity (BRS), and blood pressure (BP)-related hypoalgesia.

Method: Fifty-eight healthy participants were randomized to receive 1) bi-hemispheric tDCS over the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) at 2 mA for 20 min, or 2) non-stimulation (Sham). Pain measures (threshold, tolerance, intensity and unpleasantness), emotional state (anxiety and mood), continuous BP, and electrocardiogram (ECG) data were recorded before, during, and after stimulation.

Purpose: Alterations of autonomic cardiovascular control are implicated in the origin of chronic low blood pressure (BP) (hypotension), but comprehensive analysis of baroreflex function is still lacking. This study explored baroreflex function in its cardiac, vascular and myocardial branches METHODS: Continuous BP was recorded at rest and during a mental arithmetic task in 40 hypotensive and 40 normotensive participants. MOF-808, a metal-organic framework containing ZrO clusters, can serve as a secure anchoring point for stabilizing copper single-sites with redox activity, thus making it a promising candidate for catalytic applications. In this study, we target the incorporation of Cu-MOF-808 into a mixed-matrix membrane for the degradation of tyrosol, an emerging endocrine-disrupting compound commonly found in water sources, through Fenton reactions, developing innovative technologies for water treatment. We successfully demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach by preparing catalytic membranes with minimal metal leaching, which is one of the primary challenges in developing copper-based Fenton heterogeneous catalysts.

Objective: The present systematic review and meta-analysis intended to: 1) determine the extent of abnormalities in emotional processing linked to emotional event-related potentials (ERPs) in Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) and 2) integrate data from similar emotional tasks into a meta-analysis to clearly demonstrate the scientific and clinical value of measuring emotional ERPs by electroencephalography (EEG) in FMS.

Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis of studies comparing emotional processing indicated by ERPs in FMS patients and healthy controls was conducted. Fifteen articles were included in the systematic review after applying the eligibility criteria.

This study investigated effects of experimental baroreceptor stimulation on bilateral blood flow velocities in the anterior and middle cerebral arteries (ACA and MCA) using functional transcranial Doppler sonography. Despite the relevance of cognitive deficits in fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) and the attempts to elucidate the influence of the disorder symptoms in the cognitive decline reported by patients, no studies have explored the specific role of social support on cognition in FMS. Social support has been shown to be an essential modulator factor on cognitive performance in other diseases. Sixty-four women with FMS and 32 healthy women participated in the study and completed questionnaires pertaining to anxiety, depression, fatigue, insomnia, clinical pain, and social support, along with a neuropsychological battery assessing verbal memory, organization, strategic and planning abilities, self-regulation, processing speed, attention, and cognitive flexibility.
