TEG tests both platelet function and coagulation by assaying several parameters of clot formation dynamically in whole blood.
Aim: To evaluate hemostasis in cirrhotic patients undergoing liver transplantation and determine the positive and negative predictive values of SCE for alterations of TEG.
The design of hybrid mesoporous TiO-SiO (TS1) materials decorated with Ag and Pt nanoparticles was performed. The photocatalytic degradation of phenol under artificial solar irradiation was studied and the activity and selectivity of the intermediate products were verified. TiO-SiO was prepared by sol-gel method while Ag- and Pt-based photocatalysts (TS1-Ag and TS1-Pt) were prepared by photodeposition of the noble metals on TS1.

Methods: Adult participants (N = 482) with bipolar I or II disorder were enrolled in a comparative effectiveness study across eleven study sites and completed baseline measures of medical and psychiatric history, current mood, quality of life, and functioning. Participants with at least mildly depressive or manic/hypomanic symptomatic severity were randomized to receive lithium or quetiapine in addition to adjunctive personalized treatment for 6 months.
Purpose Of Review: Cognitive impairments and biases, which are prevalent in patients with mood and anxiety disorders, can affect quality of life and functioning. Traditional treatments are only insufficiently addressing these impairments and biases. We review the cognitive impairments and biases present in these disorders as well as treatments targeting these domains.

The results showed a volcano trend with a maximum photoactivity for the crystalline phase ratio of anatase:rutile equal to 80:20 both under UV or solar irradiation. By contrast, in presence of AC the photocatalytic activity of the binary materials of TiO2/AC followed an exponential trend, increasing as a function of the increase in anatase proportion in the TiO2 framework.

Photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) was studied on TiO2 in the presence of activated carbon (AC) prepared from the sawdust of a soft wood by physical activation under CO2 flow, by pyrolysis under N2 flow, and by chemical activation with ZnCl2 and H3PO4 under N2 flow. MB photodegradation was performed under UV and UV-visible irradiation to verify the scaling-up of the present TiO2-AC binary materials. It was verified that oxygenated surface groups on carbon were intrinsically photoactive, and a synergy effect between both solids has been estimated from the first-order apparent rate constants in the photodegradation of MB.

Objective: Analgesia for labor is a legal obligation in Chile. In our institution we implemented patient controlled analgesia for pain relief during labor. We describe the perception of the several professionals involved in the medical care of patients in labor in terms of effectiveness, usefulness, satisfaction, and safety.
