Diabetes and its complications threaten the life of communities at global, national, and sub-national levels. Following the United Nations' call to action and develop a global action plan for the prevention and control of NCDs by The World Health Organization (WHO), all countries have a commitment to halt the rise in diabetes prevalence across the world. But the different situations of disease and risk factors, different priorities, and the context of the health care systems moved the countries to develop adapted targets and action plans.

Background: Frailty is the most complicated expression of aging that is related to disability or multi-morbidity. The aim of the present study was to estimate the prevalence of frailty and its associated factors among community-dwelling aged population.

Methods: A total of 1529 eligible community- dwelling older adults (≥ 60 years) were enrolled in the baseline phase of Birjand Longitudinal Aging Study (BLAS) from 2019 to 2020.

Egg peptides are factors in the embryonic environment with many significant biological activities, such as anticancer activity. Therefore, the current study investigates the effect of egg ovalbumin (OVA) on survival, cell cycle, self-renewal ability, stemness properties, and migration in SW480 colon cancer cells and 5-fluorouracil (5FU) resistant subgroup. MTT test was performed to assess cell viability.

Purpose: Epidemiological studies show that Anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) is inversely correlated with age, obesity-related diseases, and all-cause mortality in men. To further investigate the role of AMH in aging and obesity, we studied the effect of AMH treatment on the inflammatory and metabolic parameters and weight in old male C57BL/6 mice.

Method: Thirty-six old male C57BL/6 mice (18 month-old) were either on the High-Fat Diet (HFD) or Normal Diet (ND).

Background: Obesity is a top public health problem associated with an increase in colorectal cancer incidence. Stem cells are the chief cells in tissue homeostasis that self-renew and differentiate into other cells to regenerate the organ. It is speculated that an increase in stem cell pool makes cells susceptible to carcinogenesis.

Background: Recently, revealing the function of proteins with protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks is regarded as one of important issues in bioinformatics. With the development of experimental methods such as the yeast two-hybrid method, the data of protein interaction have been increasing extremely. Many databases dealing with these data comprehensively have been constructed and applied to analyzing PPI networks.

This paper deals with interaction between a bubble and fluid around it, visualized by a moving object flow image analyzer (MOFIA) consisting of a three-dimensional (3D) moving object image analyzer (MOIA) and two-dimensional particle image velocimetry (PIV). The experiments were carried out for rising bubbles of various sizes and shapes in stagnant water in a vertical pipe. In the MOFIA employed, 3D-MOIA was used to measure bubble motion and PIV to measure fluid flow.

A method for the simultaneous determination of de(N-methyl)-N-ethyl-8,9 -anhydroerythromycin A 6,9-hemiacetal (EM523, I) and its three metabolites in human plasma and urine has been developed using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with chemiluminescence (CL) detection. Plasma and urine samples spiked with erythromycin as an internal standard were extracted with a mixture of dichloromethane and diethyl ether under alkaline conditions. The organic layer was evaporated under a stream of nitrogen gas.

A method for the determination of total phenylephrine (free plus conjugated) in human serum was developed using column-switching high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorescence detection. After serum was deproteinized with acetonitrile, the conjugated phenylephrine was hydrolyzed with diluted hydrochloric acid. The solution was evaporated to dryness.

A sensitive method for the determination of chlorpheniramine in human serum was developed using column-switching high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with ultraviolet detection at 210 nm. The analyte was extracted with diethyl ether from alkalinized serum. After evaporation of the organic layer, the reconstituted residue was analyzed by HPLC using a heart-cut technique.
