E-cadherin is a cell adhesion molecule crucial for maintaining cellular integrity and survival. E-cadherin is the focus of this study, which aims to evaluate its immunohistochemical staining patterns in endometrial carcinoma (EC). Material and methods In this retrospective study, 25 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue blocks of EC were retrieved from the Department of Pathology at Saveetha Medical College.

Aim Epithelial cadherin or E-cadherin is a cell adhesion molecule that is present in all cells to promote integrity and survival of the cells. The aim of this study was to assess the immunohistochemical staining pattern of E-cadherin in hyperplastic endometrium. Methods A total of 25 blocks of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues of endometrial biopsies, from September 2020 to May 2023, were obtained from the Department of Pathology, Saveetha Medical College.

Article Synopsis
  • Phyllodes tumors (PTs) are rare breast tumors that vary in severity from benign growths (like fibroadenomas) to malignant forms, complicating diagnosis and treatment.
  • Malignant PTs have a high chance of recurrence and poor outcomes, underscoring the need for careful histopathological evaluation and genetic research to improve diagnosis and potential therapies.
  • The article discusses a case of malignant PT in a 74-year-old woman, highlighting the tumor's ability to mimic other types of breast cancer and the important role of immunohistochemistry in accurately diagnosing these tumors.

The hobnail variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma (HVPTC) represents a distinctive and relatively rare histological subtype of thyroid malignancies. This variant is characterized by its unique cellular morphology with a hobnail appearance, that is, cells with apically positioned nuclei. There are other characteristics like micropapillary pattern and loss of cohesiveness of cells, which are indicative of HVPTC.

The development of pleural effusion in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is not well-understood and rarely documented in literature. Extramedullary involvement (EMI), which occurs in about 10% of CML cases, typically affects lymph nodes and the spleen. Instances of extensive infiltration of leukemic cells into the pleura are infrequently reported in CML.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a rare occurrence in adolescents, especially in those without underlying liver diseases. We present the case of a 16-year-old male, having no significant relevant previous medical history, who presented with signs and symptoms of an abdominal mass and hepatic dysfunction. Diagnostic investigations unveiled a startling finding of HCC, challenging the conventional understanding of this malignancy's epidemiology and etiology in young individuals.

Numerous neoplastic, viral, hematological, or metabolic conditions that affect the bone marrow might result in secondary myelofibrosis. The bone marrow aspirate results in a dry tap and bone marrow biopsy reveals significant fibrosis replacing the normal hematopoietic cells. This is an intriguing example where a bone marrow aspirate showed a dry tap, and subsequent examination revealed a peripheral T cell lymphoma (PTCL).
