Clinical and radiographic outcomes of supracondylar humerus fractures treated surgically by pediatric and non-pediatric orthopedic surgeons.

Purpose: This study compares clinical and radiographic outcomes of operatively managed pediatric supracondylar humerus fractures between patients treated by pediatric orthopedists (POs) and patients treated by non-pediatric orthopedists (NPOs).

Patients And Methods: A retrospective cohort study of pediatric patients with surgically managed supracondylar humerus fractures was conducted. For clinical outcomes analyses, 3 months of clinical follow-up were required, resulting in a sample size of 90 patients (33 treated by NPOs, 57 by POs).

Revision total hip arthroplasty in a centenarian: a case report and review of the literature.

The clinical success of primary total hip arthroplasty in elderly patients is well established. Because of the rapid growth rate of the population aged 85 years and older and the increasing life expectancy of this group of patients, the number of patients in their 8th, 9th, and even 10th decades of life requiring revision total hip arthroplasty will increase. We present the only documented case of revision total hip arthroplasty in a centenarian and a review of the relevant literature.

Apolipoprotein E epsilon4 allele increases risk for psychotic symptoms in Alzheimer's disease.

The apolipoprotein E (ApoE) epsilon4 allele is a well-documented genetic risk factor for sporadic Alzheimer's disease (AD). Its association with psychopathology among AD patients has been the subject of discrepant reports. We aimed to determine whether ApoE epsilon4+ and epsilon4- AD patients exhibit a different risk profile for psychotic symptoms and other behavioral disturbances.
