Coronary subclavian steal syndrome (CSSS) caused by left subclavian artery (LSA) stenosis is a rare cause of myocardial infarction in patients having coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), and it has also been observed after an arteriovenous fistula (AVF) was made. A 79-year-old woman who had undergone CABG years earlier and an AVF creation 1 month before experienced a non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). While selective catheterization of the left internal thoracic artery graft was impossible, a computed tomography scanner showed patency of all bypasses and proximal subocclusive LSA stenosis, and the digital blood pressure measurements objectified a haemodialysis-induced distal ischaemia.

CE is also a rare cause of myocardial infarction (MI), with a prevalence of about 5%, a figure probably underestimated. The purpose of this article was to determine the current state of knowledge on acute coronary syndrome (ACS) related to CE.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the incidence and prognosis of type 1 myocardial infarction (T1MI) and type 2 MI (T2MI) in patients with acute MI and known atrial fibrillation (AF) to identify MI directly linked to AF. Among the 669 patients, four patients with hyperthyroidism were excluded, and among the remaining 665 patients, about two-thirds were diagnosed with T1MI, and the remaining third were diagnosed with T2MI. AF was the direct cause of MI in 9.

The temporal relationships between these two disorders have not yet been fully explored. We aimed to address the outcomes of patients hospitalized with HF and AF based on the chronology of the onset of the two disorders.

Objectives: To characterize 3D electroanatomical mapping (EAM) of the His bundle (HB) region.
Background: Visualization of selective (S) and nonselective (NS) HB capture areas by EAM has not been described and may help guide HB pacing (HBP).
Methods: EAM was performed via NavX system in 17 patients (pts) undergoing HBP.
The study aims to establish the sociodemographic profile of consumers of garba (a street food sold in Côte d'Ivoire), understand its frequency of consumption, and develop a typology of its consumers. We interviewed 547 consumers at 10 points of sale. A factorial analysis of the data collected was performed and a decision tree produced for the social and demographic variables, followed by a multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) and then a hierarchical ascending clustering (HAC).

Methods: Twenty-eight patients were included.
Unlabelled: xCT is the specific chain of the cystine/glutamate antiporter, which is widely reported to support anti-oxidant defenses in vivo. xCT is therefore at the crossroads between two processes that are involved in schizophrenia: oxidative stress and glutamatergic neurotransmission. But data from human studies implicating xCT in the illness and clarifying the upstream mechanisms of xCT imbalance are still scarce.

Electrotransformation mediated by lightning-related electrical phenomena may constitute an additional gene-transfer mechanism occurring in nature. The presence in clouds of bacteria such as Pseudomonas syringae capable of forming ice nuclei that lead to precipitation, and that are likely to be involved in triggering lightning, led us to postulate that natural electrotransformation in clouds may contribute to the adaptive potential of these bacteria.

Oxidative stress and redox dysregulation have been proposed to play a role in the pathophysiology of several psychiatric conditions, but their anatomical and functional consequences are poorly understood. The aim of this study was to investigate white matter throughout the brain in a preclinical model of redox dysregulation.

As oligodendrocytes are highly vulnerable to altered redox state, we investigated the interplay between glutathione and myelin. In control subjects, multimodal brain imaging revealed a positive association between medial prefrontal glutathione levels and both white matter integrity and resting-state functional connectivity along the cingulum bundle.

Both findings could be due to abnormal neurodevelopmental trajectories, affecting local neuronal networks and long-range synchrony and leading to cognitive deficits. In this review, we present data from animal models demonstrating that redox dysregulation, neuroinflammation and/or NMDAR hypofunction (as observed in patients) impairs the normal development of both parvalbumin interneurons and oligodendrocytes.

Our purpose was to improve knowledge of chemical effects of uranium following chronic ingestion. Experiments were performed on rats contaminated for 9 months via drinking water containing depleted uranium (0.

Metabolomic profiling was performed to characterize the response to oxidative stress in fibroblasts from control individuals (n = 20) and early psychosis patients (n = 30), and in all, 282 metabolites were identified. In addition to the expected redox/antioxidant response, oxidative stress induced a decrease of lysolipid levels in fibroblasts from healthy controls that were largely muted in fibroblasts from patients.

As several in vivo studies have shown, uranium can alter XME in the rat liver or kidneys after either acute or chronic exposure. To determine how length or level of exposure affects these changes in XME, we continued our investigation of chronic rat exposure to depleted uranium (DU, uranyl nitrate).

To determine whether NFs also elicit Ca(2+) responses within the plant cell nucleus we have made use of a nucleoplasmin-tagged cameleon (NupYC2.1).

From this principle, a power law is obtained analytically for the pelagic animal biomass distribution over the animal sizes. A hypothesis is presented according to which, under fixed external conditions, the oxygen exchange intensity of an animal is governed only by its mass and density and by the specific absorbing capacity of the animal's respiratory organ.
