Background: Deprescribing of preventive medication is recommended in older patients with polypharmacy, including people with type 2 diabetes (T2D). It seems that many patients in low-middle-income countries are not willing to have their medicines deprescribed. This study aims to assess attitudes of Indonesian patients with T2D towards deprescribing in general and regarding specific cardiometabolic medicines, and factors influencing their willingness to stop medicines.

Background: Deprescribing requires patients' involvement and taking patients' attitudes toward deprescribing into account. To understand the observed variation in these attitudes, the influence of contextual-level factors, such as country or healthcare setting, should be taken into account.

Methods: We conducted a systematic review of studies using the revised Patients' Attitudes Towards Deprescribing (rPATD) questionnaire among older adults.

Background And Purpose: Polypharmacy is becoming increasingly common owing to the ageing population, which can pose problems for patients and society. We investigated the trends in polypharmacy and underlying drug groups among adults in the Netherlands from 1999 to 2014 stratified by age, and compared these with findings from the United States (US).

Methods: We conducted a repeated cross-sectional study using the Dutch IADB.

This article aimed to assess the clinical effectiveness of non-hormonal targeted therapies (TTs) in terms of increase of median progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in receptor-positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients by performing a systematic review and meta-analysis. We systematically searched relevant randomized controlled trials and extracted data about number of patients on targeted and comparator therapy, receptor status, line of treatment, median PFS and OS, p values, hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). Inverse variance was used to estimate pooled HRs, chi-square test for heterogeneity and Jadad scale for quality were applied.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the role of various placental transporter proteins in drug transfer to the fetus, alongside a previous focus on P-glycoprotein (P-gp).
  • Using a case-referent design, researchers analyzed data from over 5,000 cases of congenital anomalies and a control group from a prescription database to assess drug usage patterns.
  • Although 58 frequently used drugs were identified as substrates for these transporters, the study found no significant link between transporter inhibition and an increased risk of congenital anomalies in the analyzed population.
