Background: Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is characterized by hypogammaglobulinemia and recurrent infections. Significant morbidity and mortality are caused by immune dysregulation complications (CVIDid), which affect around one-third of CVID patients and have a poorly understood etiology. Here, we investigate the hypothesis that gut microbial dysbiosis contributes to the inflammation underlying CVIDid.

Gut Colonization by ESBL-Producing Escherichia coli in Dogs Is Associated with a Distinct Microbiome and Resistome Composition.

The gut microbiome of humans and animals acts as a reservoir of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli (ESBL-EC). Dogs are known for having a high prevalence of ESBL-EC in their gut microbiota, although their ESBL-EC carrier status often shifts over time. We hypothesized that the gut microbiome composition of dogs is implicated in ESBL-EC colonization status.
