Growth and differential salinity reduction between and in experimental hydroponic units.

We evaluated the salinity reduction of the experimental saline solutions through ion uptake capacity of two plant species, purslane (PU) () and water hyacinth (WH) (). These species were grown in experimental hydroponic units simulating a floating system. The hydroponic system contained treatments with three nutrient solutions identified as A1, A2, and A3 composed of fixed concentrations of macro and micronutrients to which three different concentrations of sodium chloride had been added.

Textile wastewater reuse after additional treatment by Fenton's reagent.

This study verifies textile wastewater reuse treated by the conventional activated sludge process and subjected to further treatment by advanced oxidation processes. Three alternative processes are discussed: Fenton, photo-Fenton, and UV/HO. Evaluation of treatments effects was based on factorial experiment design in which the response variables were the maximum removal of COD and the minimum concentration of residual HO in treated wastewater.
