Background: Sickle cell disease (SCD) affects approximately 100,000 people in the United States and millions worldwide, with the highest prevalence of 70% of SCD being found in individuals of African ethnicity. Delayed hemolytic, alloimmunization, and anamnestic transfusion reactions in multiple transfusion patients need to be investigated and managed to avoid a worsening of the patient's clinical status.

Objective: This paper aims to investigate delayed transfusion reactions in SCD patients who were polytransfused in the Brazilian Amazon.

Objective: To examine the effect of seasonality on femoral fracture incidence among people residing in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

Methods: Ecological study based on a consecutive series of 216,348 reports of hospital admissions caused by femoral fractures. A Bayesian statistical model was used for time series analysis, considering the monthly average number of events of femoral fractures per day as a dependent variable.

Status Dystonicus (SD) is characterized by generalized muscle contractions in dystonic patients. We report 5 cases of SD, two of which in patients with dystonic cerebral palsy, one in a patient with primary segmental dystonia, one in a patient with Hallervorden-Spatz syndrome and one in a patient with Wilson's disease (WD). Three patients were admitted to an intensive care unit and treated with propofol and midazolam, and two were submitted to neurosurgical procedures (bilateral pallidotomy and bilateral pallidal deep brain stimulation).
