Mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs) possess a pluripotent developmental potential and a stable karyotype. An exception is the frequent loss of one X chromosome in female ESCs derived from inbred mice. In contrast, female ESCs from crosses between different Mus musculus subspecies often maintain two X chromosomes and can model X chromosome inactivation.

Aims: Sertraline is frequently prescribed for mental health conditions in both pregnant and breastfeeding women. According to the limited available data, only small amounts of sertraline are transferred into human milk, yet with a large amount of unexplained interindividual variability. This study aimed to develop a population pharmacokinetic (popPK) model to describe the pharmacokinetics of sertraline during the perinatal period and explain interindividual variability.

Aims: Catheter ablations of complex cardiac arrhythmias are currently guided by electro-anatomic mapping (EAM) systems. The aim of this study was to compare two different approaches: remotely supported nurse-led EAM with standard onsite engineer support.

Methods And Results: In this retrospective observational study, 166 patients with complex and non-complex procedures were included.

[Risk assessment of drugs during breastfeeding].

Medication intake during the postpartum period is common with discontinuation of breastfeeding sometimes unnecessarily recommended for fear of adverse effects in the breastfed infant, while exposure through human milk is generally low. The assessment of risks associated with medication intake during breastfeeding is based, among other things, on the little clinical evidence available in specialized sources of information, and on pharmacokinetic principles. A decision-making support is presented to facilitate communication with mothers, foster medication adherence and prevent unnecessary interruption of breastfeeding.

Exo-electrogenic microorganisms have been extensively studied for their ability to transfer electrons with solid surfaces using a large variety of metabolic pathways. Background: Cannabis sativa is a primarily dioecious angiosperm that exhibits sexual developmental plasticity. Developmental genes for staminate male flowers have yet to be elucidated; however, there are regions of male-associated DNA from Cannabis (MADC) that correlate with the formation of pollen producing staminate flowers. MADC2 is an example of a PCR-based genetic marker that has been shown to produce a 390-bp amplicon that correlates with the expression of male phenotypes.

Inheritance of esters and other volatile compounds responsible for the fruity aroma in strawberry.

Cultivated strawberry,   ×  , has a complex aroma due to the presence of more than 350 volatile organic compounds (VOCs). However, a mixture of only 19 compounds, called Key Volatile Compounds (KVC), can impart the main strawberry aroma. The octoploid nature of the cultivated strawberry species (2 = 8 = 56) adds complexity to the heritance of the accumulation of the volatiles responsible for aroma.

Cannabis is one of the most widely used illicit drugs during pregnancy and lactation. With the recent legalization of cannabis in many countries, health professionals are increasingly exposed to pregnant and breastfeeding women who are consuming cannabis on a regular basis as a solution for depression, anxiety, nausea, and pain. Cannabis consumption during pregnancy can induce negative birth outcomes such as reduced birth weight and increased risk of prematurity and admission to the neonatal intensive care unit.

Aim: The link between transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (CATTR), and cerebral ischemic events (CIE) has only been hinted at till now, impeding progress in patient management. We seek to evaluate the frequency and characteristics of CIE in Afro-Caribbean patients followed for CATTR at our institution.

Methods: In this single-center retrospective observational study, Afro-Caribbean patients followed for CATTR between July 2005 and October 2019 were included.
