The French society of clinical biology "Biochemical markers of COVID-19" has set up a working group with the primary aim of reviewing, analyzing and monitoring the evolution of biological prescriptions according to the patient's care path and to look for markers of progression and severity of the disease. This study covers all public and private sectors of medical biology located in metropolitan and overseas France and also extends to the French-speaking world. Impact of diets rich in olive oil, palm oil or lard on myokine expression in rats.

It has recently emerged that myokines may be an important skeletal muscle adaptive response to obesogenic diets in sedentary subjects (who do not exercise). This study aimed to assess the influence of various high fat (HF) diets rich in either crude palm oil (cPO), refined palm oil (rPO), olive oil (OO) or lard on the modulation of myokine gene expression in the gastrocnemius. Five groups of 8 rats were each fed HF or control diet for 12 weeks.

Recurrent Severe Iron Deficiency Anemia and Thrombocytopenia in an Adolescent Male.

An adolescent male presented with recurrent episodes over several years of severe iron deficiency anemia and associated severe thrombocytopenia. The anemia was secondary to chronic blood loss due to ulceration at the site of an ileocolonic anastomosis performed during infancy. We were able to demonstrate complete resolution of thrombocytopenia with the administration of iron, and without using steroids, intravenous immunoglobulin, or platelet transfusions.

Antioxidant activities of polyphenolic compounds extracted (PPEs) from ripe fruits of oil palms are investigated by studying their in vitro effects on human low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation. Four oil palm species ( Elaeis guineensis ) are issued from the National Centre of Agronomic Research of Côte d'Ivoire, of which two are parental varieties (HP1 and HP2), while the other two are crossing varieties (HP3 and HP4). The main identified compounds were rutin (HP3 and HP4) and caffeic and chlorogenic (5-caffeoyl quinic) acids (HP1, HP3, and HP4).

This study aimed to evaluate the benefits of microalbuminuria in preventing kidney damage in systemic lupus erythemathosus. Unlabelled: The objective of this study was to evaluate the interest of regular consumption of an antioxidant-containing herb tea in the care of HIV-patients. We conducted a 24 month prospective study in 30 patients clinically asymptomatic, infected by the VIH1, with a rate of CD4 above 200/mm3, and naive of any antiretroviral treatment. Every patient received a supplementation in antioxidants by drinking every two days during twelve monthsherb tea issued from Alternanthera pungens.

[Selenium deficiency and oxidative stress in asymptomatic HIV1-infected patients in Côte d'Ivoire].

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the oxidative stress and selenium status and the antioxidant capacity of asymptomatic HIV1-infected patients in Côte d'Ivoire. This study involved 30 asymptomatic HIV1-infected patients, aged from 18 to 50 years old, selected in CIRBA (Centre Intégré de Recherche Bioclinique d'Abidjan).
