Objectives: To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of long-acting progestogens (LAP), including levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) and depot-medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA), compared with the combined oral contraceptives pill (COCP) in preventing recurrence of endometriosis-related pain postsurgery.

Design: Within-trial economic evaluation alongside a multicentre, pragmatic, parallel-group, open-label, randomised controlled trial (Preventing Recurrence of Endometriosis by means of Long-Acting Progestogen Therapy trial).

Setting: Thirty-four UK hospitals recruiting participants from November 2015 to March 2019.

A Communications Campaign to Build Confidence in Covid-19 Vaccines: The Boston Medical Center Experience.

Health systems could play an important role in efforts to build vaccine confidence in communities that have been hardest hit by Covid-19. Boston Medical Center (BMC) health system, New England's largest safety-net hospital, along with its community partners, implemented a Covid Response Program aimed at building vaccine confidence. The program was supported by a multifaceted and multilingual communications campaign including: 1) traditional and social media channels with trusted messengers, 2) consistent and accessible core messaging, 3) transparent dialogue, and 4) partnership with state and local health government officials.

A Survey for Charting Intake, Output, and Body Weight in the Electronic Medical Record.

Background: The accuracy of documentation of body weight and fluid balance in hospitalized patients is frequently questioned.

Methods: We conducted a survey to understand provider perceptions of the accuracy of intake, output, and weight charting in the electronic medical record. We sent a six-item questionnaire to nurses and physicians who provide inpatient service in a community-based teaching hospital of the Northeastern United States.

The Effects of Dry Needling on Hamstring Range of Motion: A Critically Appraised Topic.

Clinical Scenario: Hamstring range of motion (ROM) and the influence it has on injury risk is among great discussion in the literature. Hamstring injury may result from hamstring tightness, poor flexibility, or decreased ROM, and many argue that this can be prevented through various intervention strategies. In active populations, risk of further injury, pain, and complications throughout the kinetic chain can occur if minimal hamstring ROM is left untreated.

Effectiveness of Psychoeducation on Burden among Family Caregivers of Adults with Schizophrenia: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Caring for relatives living with schizophrenia could lead to caregivers' burden. It is believed that lack of information and understanding about schizophrenia and lack of skills to cope effectively while caring for their adult relatives largely contribute to the burden they experience. The burden is assessed using assessment scales.

The costs of surgical site infection after abdominal surgery in middle-income countries: Key resource use In Wound Infection (KIWI) study.

Background: Surgical site infection (SSI) is the most common complication of abdominal surgery, with substantial costs to patients and health systems. Heterogeneity in costing methods in existing SSI studies makes multi-country comparison challenging. The objective of the study was to assess the costs of SSI across middle-income countries.

Colloidal, Room-Temperature Growth of Metal Oxide Shells on InP Quantum Dots.

We demonstrate colloidal, layer-by-layer growth of metal oxide shells on InP quantum dots (QDs) at room temperature. We show with computational modeling that native InP QD surface oxides give rise to nonradiative pathways due to the presence of surface-localized dark states near the band edges. Replacing surface indium with zinc to form a ZnO shell results in reduced nonradiative decay and a density of states at the valence band edge that resembles defect-free, stoichiometric InP.

Operationalising a Recovery-Oriented Support and Information Programme Online: The EOLAS Programme.

Evidence demonstrates that psychoeducation interventions have clinical and recovery-related benefits for people experiencing psychosis and their family members. The EOLAS programmes are one example of recovery-oriented psychoeducation programmes for psychosis. They differ from other programmes in that they are co-designed and co-facilitated (peer and clinician) group programmes.

Development and evaluation of the Acromegaly Symptom Diary.

Background: Patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures are important to consider when evaluating treatments, yet there are no PRO measures for patients with acromegaly that have been developed in accordance with US Food and Drug Administration guidance. Acromegaly is a rare, chronic condition caused by hypersecretion of growth hormone. Disease activity is monitored by measurement in serum of growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor-I.

Importance: Individuals who survived COVID-19 often report persistent symptoms, disabilities, and financial consequences. However, national longitudinal estimates of symptom burden remain limited.

Deterministic Quantum Light Arrays from Giant Silica-Shelled Quantum Dots.

Colloidal quantum dots (QDs) are promising candidates for single-photon sources with applications in photonic quantum information technologies. Developing practical photonic quantum devices with colloidal materials, however, requires scalable deterministic placement of stable single QD emitters. In this work, we describe a method to exploit QD size to facilitate deterministic positioning of single QDs into large arrays while maintaining their photostability and single-photon emission properties.

In 2019, the first cases of SARS-CoV-2 were detected in Wuhan, China, and by early 2020 the first cases were identified in the United States. SARS-CoV-2 infections increased in the US causing many states to implement stay-at-home orders and additional safety precautions to mitigate potential outbreaks. As policies changed throughout the pandemic and restrictions lifted, there was an increase in demand for COVID-19 testing which was costly, difficult to obtain, or had long turn-around times.

These restrictions impact on quality of care and the psychosocial and emotional well-being of family caregivers. Following a national cross-sectional web-based survey, respondents were invited to provide personal reflections on visitor restrictions.

Impact of Nanoparticle Size and Surface Chemistry on Peptoid Self-Assembly.

Self-assembled organic nanomaterials can be generated by bottom-up assembly pathways where the structure is controlled by the organic sequence and altered using pH, temperature, and solvation. In contrast, self-assembled structures based on inorganic nanoparticles typically rely on physical packing and drying effects to achieve uniform superlattices. By combining these two chemistries to access inorganic-organic nanostructures, we aim to understand the key factors that govern the assembly pathway and structural outcomes in hybrid systems.
