Introduction: Spinocerebellar ataxia type 12 (SCA12) is a rare autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder caused by abnormal CAG repeat expansion in the gene. This disease is classically characterized by action tremor, dysarthria, ataxia, and hyperreflexia. There are limited reports regarding the non-motor symptoms in patients with SCA 12.

Lingual Abscess after Posterior Fossa Surgery: An Unusual Complication of the Concorde Position.

Posterior fossa tumors are one of the most common tumors occurring in children. These tumors are often operated in the Concorde or prone position. Venous congestion can occur due to neck flexion during the positioning causing macroglossia.

Gait differentiation in progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and vascular parkinsonism (VaP) is sometimes difficult to detect with the naked eye. Here, we compared specific gait parameters, neuro-morphometric indices, and their associations between patients with PSP Richardson's syndrome (PSP-RS) and VaP. A total of 18 PSP-RS and 13 VaP patients were recruited.

The risk of misdiagnosis is high in the early stages of PD, often eluded by atypical parkinsonian symptoms. Neuroimaging and laboratory biomarkers are being sought to aid in the clinical diagnosis of PD.

Post-partum paraplegia following spinal anaesthesia: a report of two rare cases.

Pregnancy and lumbar puncture are rare instances that can precipitate sudden onset paraplegia in patients with otherwise slow-growing intradural tumours. Surgeons and anaesthesiologists should be aware of the etiological factors leading to pregnancy- and delivery-related rapid tumour growth and its complications. Lumbar puncture-related complications leading to acute precipitation of neurological symptoms must be addressed promptly for favourable outcome in such patients.

A Deep Graph Cut Model For 3D Brain Tumor Segmentation.

Brain tumor segmentation plays a key role in tumor diagnosis and surgical planning. In this paper, we propose a solution to the 3D brain tumor segmentation problem using deep learning and graph cut from the MRI data. In particular, the probability maps of a voxel to belong to the object (tumor) and background classes from the UNet are used to improve the energy function of the graph cut.

A Rare Case Report of an Intradural Left Cerebellopontine Angle Chordoma.

Intracranial intradural chordomas are rare entities constituting 1 to 3% of primary bone tumors. The mainstay of treatment remains aggressive resection of the lesion followed by adjuvant radiation therapy. We hereby report a case of a 70-year-old gentleman with intracranial, intradural chordoma arising from the left cerebellopontine angle.

Spectrum of hospitalized NeuroCOVID diagnoses from a tertiary care neurology centre in Eastern India.

Purpose: To describe the spectrum of hospitalized NeuroCOVID on admission in a tertiary neurology centre in Kolkata, the largest and most populated metropolitan city in Eastern India.

Method: We retrospectively studied confirmed COVID-19 patients admitted with a neurological condition from 1st May 2020 to 30th January 2021. Neurological diagnoses and their temporal relationship to respiratory features along with clinicodemographic profile for such patients was ascertained.

Dome-Shaped Pituitary Enlargement in Primary Hypothyroidism: Avoiding Neurosurgical Interventions.

We describe three cases of primary hypothyroidism which presented initially to neurosurgery department with pituitary hyperplasia. We have found a novel pattern of 'dome-shaped' enlargement of pituitary in MRI of these patients. Out of these 3 patients, in two of them, the planned surgery was deferred when endocrinologists were consulted and the pituitary hyperplasia completely resolved with levothyroxine treatment.

Skeletal fluorosis causing high cervical myelopathy.

Skeletal fluorosis is endemic in some parts of the world and is the result of life-long ingestion of high amounts of fluoride in drinking water. Its clinical presentation is characterized mostly by bone and dental changes with later ossification of many ligaments and interosseous membranes. We present a rare case of high cervical myelopathy caused by ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament and ligamentum flavum in a patient from an area endemic for skeletal fluorosis.
