Predictors of anxiety and depression in operating room nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic: A multi-center cross-sectional study.

Background: Operating room nurses (ORNs) who directly deal with the treatment and care of COVID-19 patients during the pandemic are at risk in terms of psychological stress and other mental health problems.

Objective: The aim of the study was to compare the anxiety and depression levels of ORNs working in different countries in the COVID-19 outbreak, and to determine the predictors and the difference between countries.

Methods: This was a descriptive and cross-sectional study.

I am delighted to bring you the Perioperative Care Collaborative (PCC) National Core Curriculum for Perioperative Nursing 2017, whose purpose is 'influencing and supporting clinical policies into perioperative practice'. This is a very important document for nurses working within operating theatre settings. Since the dissolution of the English National Board (ENB), perioperative nurses have not had access to appropriate professional courses in line with what had been previously available.

An interview with Martin Bromiley.

Many of you will have heard of Martin Bromiley and many will have met him over the years since he became a prominent figure within the environs of perioperative care. Martin came into our lives as a result of the tragic death of his wife Elaine Bromiley a 37 year old mother of two who was admitted for an elective endoscopic sinus surgery. Elaine suffered major complications during the induction of general anaesthesia that resulted in her death due to hypoxic brain damage.

Who are physicians' assistants (anaesthesia) and where do they work?

Physicians' Assistants (Anaesthesia) (PA(A) s) were introduced in the UK almost a decade ago, and are now established within many NHS hospitals. PA(A)s are highly trained and skilled practitioners that work within an anaesthetic team under the direction and supervision of a consultant anaesthetist. These professionals are involved in all aspects of general anaesthesia delivery and some organisations have trained PA(A)s to additionally perform regional and local anaesthesia procedures.
