Objectives: To assess the role of Cardiotrophin-1 (CT-1) and echocardiography in early detection of subclinical Diabetic Cardiomyopathy (DCM) in children with type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1D).
Methods: This case-control study included two groups of children and adolescents aged between 7 and 18. Group (1) included forty patients with T1D (duration > 5 years) regularly followed at the children's hospital of Cairo University, and Group (2) included forty age and sex-matched healthy subjects as a control group.
Background And Study Aims: Liver dysfunction is a common manifestation of the COVID-19 infection. We aimed to study transaminase abnormalities through different waves of COVID-19 and their relations to disease severity or mortality.
Patients And Methods: A retrospective study included 521 Egyptian patients diagnosed with COVID-19.
Background: Minimal data is available on the prevalence and correlates of hypertension and prehypertension in Dubai. The study aims to measure the prevalence of hypertension and pre-hypertension and the associated socio-demographic characteristics, behavioral risk factors and comorbidities among the adult population of Dubai.
Methods: This study used data from the Dubai Household Health Survey, 2019.
Background: Egypt has the highest prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) worldwide. Which make liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) major health concerns in Egypt. Circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) have been investigated as biomarkers for malignancies.

Background: Coke oven workers are exposed to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) with possible genotoxicity and carcinogenicity. Metabolizing enzymes genes and DNA repair genes are suspected to be correlated with the level of DNA damage. They may contribute to variable individual sensitivity to DNA damage induced by PAHs exposure at workplace.

Purpose: To determine the short-term safety of human recombinant decorin protein in preventing proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) in perforating injuries.
Methods: This is a prospective, single-center, open-label, interventional case series. Single intravitreal injection of decorin 200 μg (n = 4) or 400 μg (n = 8) was given 48 h after injury.
CYP21A2 genotyping remains an important element in the diagnosis and management of congenital adrenal hyperplasia, and establishing accurate genotype-phenotype correlations has facillitated adequate genetic counseling and prenatal management for at-risk families. Despite extensive efforts to establish a clear genotype-phenotype correlation, some discordance remains. Establishing a diagnosis of congenital adrenal hyperplasia on the basis of biochemical and clinical data is occasionally challenging, and the identification of CYP21A2 mutations may help confirm the diagnosis.

Methods: We recruited overweight/obese Emirati students; grade 6-12 (age 11-17 years) from 16 government schools in Sharjah (UAE). Anthropometric, demographic, and clinical history data was measured by standard methods.
Background And Study Aims: The transforming growth factor (TGF)-β signalling pathway plays a dual role in hepatocarcinogenesis. It has been recognised for its role as a tumour suppressor as well as a tumour promoter depending on the cellular context. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical significance of serum TGF-β1 level and TGF-β1 messenger RNA (mRNA) in the peripheral blood of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients as noninvasive biomarkers in diagnosing HCC.
