Characteristics of disorders of aural and speech memory and visual-spatial orientation were studied in 70 children aged 5-14 years at the acute period of brain injuries and compressions. Neuropsychic examination was conducted according to Luria's scheme including the technique of memory evaluation and test to evaluate spatial orientation. Disorders of memory and spatial orientation were correlated with the severity of the head trauma and the predominant localization of the brain injury.

Clinical-psychologic examination of 132 pupils aged 7-14 years with a history of brain concussion disclosed the following clinical syndromes: cerebrasthenia in 55 children (41.7%), hypertensive-hydrocephalus syndrome in 44 (33.3%), epileptiform syndrome in 8 children (6%); 25 children (19%) presented a state of clinical compensation.

The character of craniocerebral injuries in 2743 children admitted to a children's traumatological division within 1976 to 1979 is analyzed. Clinical data characterizing craniocerebral injuries of various gravity are presented, and principles of individualized treatment of the patients are described. A great diagnostic value of special examination methods, such as cerebrospinal fluid examination, electroencephalography, rheoencephalography, and electromyography is demonstrated.
