Measurements of chemiluminescence of apo-B-containing lipoproteins of blood serum enables one to evaluate their capability of peroxidation in the presence of ferrous ions. The recording of chemiluminescence changes in the standard chemiluminescent system in the presence of ferrous ions after adding the supernatant remained after the precipitation of apo-B-containing lipoproteins may serve a simple test for the assessment of blood serum antioxidant activity.

Apo-B containing lipoproteins obtained after precipitation with heparin and calcium as well as very low (LPVLD) and low density lipoproteins (LPLD) produced using preparative scale ultracentrifugation had identical chemoluminescent properties. However, LPVLD are involved only slightly in total chemoluminescence of apo-B containing lipoproteins due to their low concentration in blood serum. In blood serum there is the factor having the quenching effect on the chemoluminescence and also exhibiting the antioxidant activity.

Complex differential-diagnostic immunodiffusional test for a number of blood plasma proteins, antigens of liver tissue and alpha-fetoprotein was used to evaluate the liver tissue functional state. The test characterized more distinctly the liver tissue function as compared with estimation of individual proteins and was more informative in diagnosis of liver tissue disorders.

After haemosorption of patients with psoriasis eluates from columns of IGI charcoal were tested for presence of 19 main plasma proteins using monospecific antisera. Distinct selectivity of protein sorption on IGI charcoal was found due to strong adsorption of the proteins responsible for immunity (IgG, IgA, IgM, C3- and C4-components of complement) as well as of fibrinogen.

The rabbits fed cholesterol show significant changes in lipid metabolism and develop hypercholesterolemia that indicate that development of experimental atherosclerosis in the animals. At the same time there is an increase in the chemiluminescence intensity of apo-B-containing lipoproteins in the presence of divalent iron, reflecting the enhancement of lipid peroxidation in apo-B-containing lipoproteins of rabbit blood serum. The increased chemiluminescence of apo-B-containing lipoproteins within the early stages of experimental atherosclerosis can be used for early diagnosis of atherosclerosis on an experimental and clinical basis.

Specific protein, thermostable alpha-globulin, was found with the use of immunochemical analysis in carbon eluents after hemosorption in patients with autoimmune diseases. It is suggested that positive clinical effect of hemosorption might be determined by sorption of thermostable alpha-globulin from the patients' blood.

The authors followed the time course of the psychic disturbances in 37 patients with primary biliary liver cirrhosis who received hemosorption as part of the combined therapy. The peculiarities of the psychic disturbances and their time course before and after the hemosorption were specified. It was found that after the hemosorption a regression of asthenoneurotic disturbances took place.

As revealed the velocities of urea decomposition in the citrate donor plasma with soluble urease and urease immobilized by addition to carboxymethyl ester of cellulose, 2-(3'-amino-4'-methoxyphenyl)-sulphonylethyl ester of cellulose, diethylaminoester of cellulose, stained with dichlortriazine stain, or graft copolymere of cellulose and polyglycidylmetacrylate were sufficiently close to one another. Preparations of immobilized urease can be repeatedly used for urea decomposition in the citrate donor blood. Periodical treatment of the mentioned preparations with cystein solution led to a lesser decrease of enzymatic activity of the immobilized urease after repeated use.
