Objective: Eating behavior is affected by psychological and neurocognitive factors. However, little is known about this relationship in anxious patients. Our aim was to investigate the associations between impulsivity, inhibitory control, energy-dense food consumption, and body mass index (BMI) in women with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).

Multi-behavioral obesogenic phenotypes among school-aged boys and girls along the birth weight continuum.

Evidence shows that extremes of birth weight (BW) carry a common increased risk for the development of adiposity and related cardiovascular diseases, but little is known about the role of obesogenic behaviors in this process. Moreover, no one has empirically examined whether the relationship between BW, obesogenic behaviors and BMI along the full low-to-high birthweight continuum reflects the U-shape pattern expected from common risk at both BW extremes. Our objective was to characterize physical activity, screen time, and eating behavior and their relationship to BMI as a function of BW among school-aged boys and girls.

Perceived maternal care is associated with emotional eating in young adults.

Introduction: Early life adversity, including the perception of poor quality of maternal care, is associated with long-term metabolic and psychosocial consequences. The negative quality of mother/child relationship is associated with emotional overeating in young children, which is defined by eating in response to emotional arousal states such as fear, anger or anxiety. However, it is not known if this association persists through adolescence.

Aim of this study was to evaluate the role of LA and its deformation properties on LV filling at rest (R) and immediately after a maximal exercise (ME) through the speckle tracking echocardiography.

Aim of this study was to evaluate left ventricular (LV) longitudinal, circumferential, and torsional components immediately after a maximal intensity exercise (ME) by speckle tracking echocardiography (STE).

Methods: Twenty-seven male water polo players performed an ME that consisted of 6 repeats of 100 m freestyle swim sets.

A rare case of large organized thrombus of the tricuspid valve in a normal heart.

Thrombosis of the tricuspid valve is a very rare cardiac pathological condition, characterized by the location and formation of thrombus near the valve edges. Clinically it can be very easy to mistake it for a myxoma or an infective endocarditis. The aetiology of this condition is an alteration of coagulation, deep venous thrombosis, cardiac structural anomalies or idiopathic forms of hearts that appear structurally normal.

Valve replacement for aortic stenosis normalizes subendocardial function in patients with normal ejection fraction.

Aims: Long-standing aortic stenosis (AS) causes various degrees of left ventricular (LV) dysfunction, which may improve after valve replacement. The aim of this study was to assess the nature of LV subendocardial abnormalities in AS and their response to valve replacement (AVR).

Methods And Results: We studied 41 consecutive symptomatic patients (age 64 +/- 13 years) with severe AS, normal LV ejection fraction (EF), but no obstructive coronary artery disease before, a week after AVR, and 6 months after AVR.
