Aims: Whether the plasma-based ceramide-based risk score CERT1 improves risk prediction for cardiovascular disease (CVD) is uncertain.
Materials And Methods: Baseline and follow-up data were combined from two cohorts, 334 patients with established/suspected CVD and 196 patients with type 2 diabetes followed for a median of 74 months (interquartile range 54-79 months). For the calculation of CERT1 risk score, we measured four specific plasma ceramides [Cer(d18:1/16:0), Cer(d18:1/18:0) and Cer(d18:1/24:1)] and their ratios to Cer(d18:1/24:0).
Ranolazine is an anti-anginal medication that has demonstrated antiarrhythmic properties by inhibiting both late sodium and potassium currents. Studies have shown promising results for ranolazine in treating both atrial fibrillation and ventricular arrhythmias, particularly when used in combination with other medications. This review explores ranolazine's mechanisms of action and its potential role in cardiac arrhythmias treatment in light of previous clinical studies.

To tackle the growth of antimicrobial resistance, the Happy Patient project was set up under the sponsorship of the European Commission.
Aim: O ascertain the characteristics of dispensing antibiotic therapy in Spanish community pharmacies.
Aim: To know within the scope of the May Measurement Month (MMM) project, the blood pressure (BP) situation in the Spanish population, disseminate the importance of its periodic measurement and estimate the prevalence of masked hypertension (MH).
Methods: Transversal descriptive study in Spanish community pharmacies during May 2019.
Variables: Systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in millimetres of mercury (mmHg), heart rate (HR) in beats per minute (bpm).
Background: Cardiogenic Shock (CS) complicating acute myocardial infarction (AMI) poses a significant mortality risk, suggesting the opportunity to implement effective mechanical circulatory support strategies. The comparative efficacy of Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) and Impella in managing CS-AMI remains a subject of investigation.
Objective: This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the comparative effectiveness of Impella and IABP in managing CS-AMI, exploring mortality and adverse events.
During durst storms, also biological material is transported from arid areas such as the Sahara Desert. In the present work, rain samples containing significant amounts of mineral dust have been collected in Granada during different red rain episodes. Biological features (bacteria, biofilm, pollen grain and fungal spore) as well as size-particle distribution and mineralogical composition were studied by SEM.

Despite right Heart Catheterism is the gold standard for diagnosis of PHT, echocardiography provides important information about prognosis and is helpful in both follow-up and first evaluation of PHT patients, showing a good correlation with invasively measured parameters by right heart catheterization.

Moreover, their recognition and counting are required by the regulatory and quality norms of the sector. International standards such as UNI 10941:2001 could be applied but this has subjective interpretation.

Introduction: Adherence to treatment and hypoglycemia awareness are strongly linked to glycemic control and hypoglycemia risk in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Community pharmacies are suitable facilities to detect these conditions, and should be involved in the strategies to minimize the associated risks and burden.
Research Design And Methods: This cross-sectional study conducted at community pharmacies across Spain assessed the prevalence of low adherence to antidiabetic treatments, the frequency of impaired hypoglycemia awareness, and their predictive factors.
The aim of the May Measurement Month (MMM) is devoted to better understanding the awareness, treatment, and control rates of hypertension in Spain. Presented here are the data corresponding to 2019 campaign. In 2019, a total of 4433 patients (61.

The pandemic caused by coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) has forced, in many cases, to replace face-to-face consultation with the telematic consultation, in order to reduce the risk of contagion associated with the presence of patients in health centres. This change may represent an opportunity for a different and more effective communication between professionals and patients, allowing better accessibility to medical care and more systematic and comprehensive approach to patients with hypertension and cardiovascular risk. However, organisational tools are needed to facilitate communication between patients and professionals, specifically with the exchange of clinical data by remote monitoring of variables associated with hypertension and cardiovascular risk (blood pressure, weight, height, blood tests…), and allow monitoring of adherence to treatments, lifestyles and risk factors.

Children with disabilities are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and the containment response. Their caregivers must now adapt to increased stressors such as lack of access to needed therapies, medical supplies, and nursing care. Prior to COVID-19 these families were already marginalized, and this has only worsened during the pandemic.

Method: Cross-sectional multicentre study carried out in Spanish community pharmacies during 4 weeks, one in each season of the year. Oral J01 antibiotics (Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical classification, ATC) requested for self-medication were analysed.
Hybrid transparent contacts based on combinations of a transparent conductive oxide and a few graphene monolayers were developed in order to evaluate their optical and electrical performance with the main aim to use them as front contacts in optoelectronic devices. The assessment of the most suitable strategies for their fabrication was performed by testing different protocols addressing such issues as the protection of the device structure underneath, the limitation of sample temperature during the graphene-monolayer transfer process and the determination of the most suitable stacking structure. Suitable metal ohmic electrodes were also evaluated.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that causes the most prevalent dementia in the elderly people. Obesity and insulin resistance, which may cause major health problems , are risk factors for AD, and cytokines such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) have a role in these conditions. IL-6 can signal either through a membrane receptor or by trans-signaling, which can be inhibited by the soluble form of the co-receptor gp130 (sgp130).

During public health crises including the COVID-19 pandemic, resource scarcity and contagion risks may require health systems to shift-to some degree-from a usual clinical ethic, focused on the well-being of individual patients, to a public health ethic, focused on population health. Many triage policies exist that fall under the legal protections afforded by "crisis standards of care," but they have key differences. We critically appraise one of the most fundamental differences among policies, namely the use of criteria to categorically exclude certain patients from eligibility for otherwise standard medical services.
