Accelerated fatigue resistance of novel-design histoanatomic implant restorations made of CAD/CAM bilaminar assemblies.

Objectives: Evaluate the fatigue resistance and failure mode of novel-design implant restorations made of histoanatomic computer-assisted design/computer-assisted manufacturing (CAD/CAM) bilaminar bonded assemblies.

Material And Methods: 60 screw-retained implant restorations were fabricated. Monolithic restorations were used as a control group (15 lithium disilicate: group CE; and 15 nanofilled composite resin: group CL), and compared with bilaminar restorations (15 dentin-shaped lithium disilicate mesostructures with a bonded nanofilled composite resin veneer: group CEL; and 15 dentin-shaped nanofilled composite resin mesostructures with a bonded lithium disilicate veneer: group CLE).

Chagas disease.

Chagas disease is an anthropozoonosis from the American continent that has spread from its original boundaries through migration. It is caused by the protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi, which was identified in the first decade of the 20th century. Once acute infection resolves, patients can develop chronic disease, which in up to 30-40% of cases is characterised by cardiomyopathy, arrhythmias, megaviscera, and, more rarely, polyneuropathy and stroke.

The authors aimed to investigate whether changes in PbtO after DC could be used as an independent prognostic factor. METHODS The authors conducted a retrospective, observational study at 2 university hospital ICUs.

The phellogen (cork cambium) externally produces cork (phellem) cells that are dead at maturity; while metabolically active, these tissues synthesize cell walls, as well as cell wall modifications, namely suberin and waxes. Suberin is a heteropolymer with aliphatic and aromatic domains, composed of acylglycerols, cross-linked polyphenolics and solvent-extractable waxes.

We here screen the Tres Cantos Antimalarial Set (TCAMS) using the previously developed P. falciparum female gametocyte activation assay (Pf FGAA), which assesses stage V female gametocyte viability and functionality using Pfs25 expression.

Pharmacokinetics and Tissue Distribution of Benznidazole after Oral Administration in Mice.

Specific chemotherapy using benznidazole (BNZ) for Chagas disease during the chronic stage is controversial due to its limited efficacy and toxic effects. Introduction: The aim of the present study was to evaluate clinical presentation and management of sigmoid volvulus in children. Sigmoid volvulus is one of the three leading causes of acute obstruction of the colon and is between 50 and 90% of all large bowel volvulus. In the pediatric population only 3 to 5% of bowel obstructions are caused by volvulus and there are less than 100 cases reported in the literature.

Assessment of Data Fusion Algorithms for Earth Observation Change Detection Processes.

In this work a parametric multi-sensor Bayesian data fusion approach and a Support Vector Machine (SVM) are used for a Change Detection problem. For this purpose two sets of SPOT5-PAN images have been used, which are in turn used for Change Detection Indices (CDIs) calculation. For minimizing radiometric differences, a methodology based on zonal "invariant features" is suggested.

Molecular and Functional Characterization of a Cohort of Spanish Patients with Ataxia-Telangiectasia.

The disorder is caused by alterations in the ATM gene, whose size and complexity make molecular diagnosis difficult. We designed a target-enrichment next-generation sequencing strategy to characterize 28 patients from several regions of Spain.

Arboviral and other illnesses in travellers returning from Brazil, June 2013 to May 2016: implications for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

We evaluated EuroTravNet (a GeoSentinel subnetwork) data from June 2013 to May 2016 on 508 ill travellers returning from Brazil, to inform a risk analysis for Europeans visiting the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Brazil. Few dengue fever cases (n = 3) and no cases of chikungunya were documented during the 2013-15 Brazilian winter months, August and September, the period when the Games will be held. The main diagnoses were dermatological (37%), gastrointestinal (30%), febrile systemic illness (29%) and respiratory (11%).

Serodiscordance in chronic Chagas disease diagnosis: a real problem in non-endemic countries.

According to the WHO, chronic Chagas disease (CD) diagnosis is based on two serological techniques. To establish a definitive diagnosis, the results must be concordant. In cases of discordances, the WHO proposes repeating serology in a new sample, and if results remain inconclusive, a confirmatory test should be performed.

Background: During cytoplasmic oocyte maturation, Ca(2+) currents are vital for regulating a broad range of physiological processes. Recent studies have demonstrated that DMSO and EG cause large transient increases in intracellular Ca(2+) in mouse oocytes. The CP used in vitrifying protocols also increases the intracellular calcium transient.

Impact of Helminth Infection on the Clinical and Microbiological Presentation of Chagas Diseases in Chronically Infected Patients.

Background: Helminth infections are highly prevalent in tropical and subtropical countries, coexisting in Chagas disease endemic areas. Helminth infections in humans may modulate the host immune system, changing the Th1/Th2 polarization. This immunological disturbance could modify the immune response to other infections.
