Objectives: Gastrointestinal complications and bowel movement disorders are common complications of abdominal surgery. Considering the effects of coffee and the high prevalence of cesarean section operations, this study aimed to assess how coffee consumption affected the motility of the intestines.

Methods: This was a triple-blind clinical trial study performed on 200 cases of randomly chosen women who had undergone cesarean section in both Akbarabadi and Firouzgar hospitals, and they were randomly divided into two groups.

Objectives: This study investigated the impact of hypoxic preconditioning on the survival and oxidative stress tolerance of nestin-expressing hair follicle stem cells (hHFSCs) and SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells, two crucial cell types for central nervous system therapies. The study also examined the relative expression of three key genes, HIF1α, BDNF, and VEGF following hypoxic preconditioning.

Materials And Methods: hHFSCs were isolated from human hair follicles, characterized, and subjected to hypoxia for up to 72 hours.

Background: Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) is a pressing global health challenge. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as pivotal regulators. Among these, the lncRNA ANRIL (antisense non-coding RNA in the INK4 locus) has a role in cancer progression.

Vitiligo is a chronic skin condition characterized by the loss of melanocytes, resulting in white patches on the skin. While its exact cause is unknown, it's believed to be an autoimmune disorder involving genetic, environmental, and immunologic factors. Various treatments, including topical drugs, phototherapy, and surgery, exist, but further research is needed for more targeted therapies.

Bipolar disorder (BD) is a psychiatric condition that is frequently misdiagnosed and linked to inadequate treatment. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have lately gained recognition as crucial genetic elements and are now regarded as regulatory mechanisms in the neurological system. Our objective was to measure the quantities of HOXA-AS2 and MEG3 ncRNA transcripts.

Leukemia is a cancer affecting the hematopoietic system with an unclear pathogenesis. Recent studies suggest a correlation between several long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and leukemia development. This study focuses on the potential link between (rs2839698 and rs217727) polymorphisms and Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) susceptibility.

Sperm cryopreservation in small ruminant is an efficient strategy to distribute spermatozoa for reproductive programmes, but this process reduces the fertility potential of frozen-thawed spermatozoa. The aim of the current research was to evaluate the impact of different concentrations of cysteamine (CYS) in soybean lecithin (SL)-based medium on postthawed buck semen quality and fertility potential. Semen samples were collected from five bucks, twice a week, then diluted in the SL-based extender containing different concentrations of CYS as follows: extender containing 0 mM (control, C0), 1 mM (C1), 2 mM (C2), 4 mM (C4) and 8 mM (C8) CYS.

This research focuses on an Iranian industrial area with a long history of oil contamination where oil spills occurred over time. Multiple techniques were utilized to determine the contamination source, including chemical, hydrogeological, and geological methods. The results indicated that the main reason for the leak was the rupture of several underground oil pipelines.

Introduction: This study measures the COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness (CVE) against hospital admission and severe COVID-19.

Methods: This study is a test-negative case-control design using data from eight provinces in April, 2021 until March, 2022. The individuals were classified as cases and controls based on the results of the RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 and matched based on the timing of the test being conducted as well as the timing of hospital admission.

Objective: Recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) is defined as two or more pregnancy losses before 24 gestational weeks, accounting for 1-3% of fertile couples. A vast majority of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in some () genes can change the miRNA-mRNA interaction and are associated with the risk of RSA. This study was designed to better elucidate the association between miR-27a, miR-499, and miR-146a polymorphisms and RSA risk.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on developing a new drug, "IHNOCS," aimed at treating Head, Neck, and Oral Cancer by targeting specific proteins to suppress cancer progression.
  • Using advanced computational tools, researchers demonstrated that IHNOCS effectively inhibits the KRTAP2-3 protein and modulates TGF-β, which helps to slow down cancer metastasis.
  • While the drug shows promising results in theory, it will need to go through further experimental testing, including lab studies and clinical trials, to evaluate its effectiveness in real-world situations.

High-grade glioma (HGG) is an aggressive brain tumor. Sex is an important factor that differentially affects survival outcomes in HGG. We used an end-to-end deep learning approach on hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) scans to (i) identify sex-specific histopathological attributes of the tumor microenvironment (TME), and (ii) create sex-specific risk profiles to prognosticate overall survival.

The aim was to estimate the relative contribution of imprinting effects from both paternal and maternal sides to phenotypic variation in milk production traits including 305 days milk yield (MY), average daily milk production (ADM), fat percentage (F%), protein percentage (P%), 305 days fat yield (FY), 305 days protein yield (PY), ratio of fat percentage to protein percentage (F:P) and somatic cell score (SCS) in Iranian Holstein cows. To do this, each trait was analysed with a series of four animal models, which were identical for fixed and additive genetic effects but differed for combinations of paternal and maternal imprinting effects. The log-likelihood ratio test (LRT) and Akaike's information criteria (AIC) were used to select the best model for each trait.

Background: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play various roles in gene regulation. GATA3 antisense RNA 1 (GATA3-AS1) is an lncRNA gene neighboring GATA binding protein 3 (GATA3). The current study aims to quantitatively compare the levels of the expression of GATA3-AS1, GATA3, and Interleukin-4 (IL-4) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) samples of MS patients and healthy individuals under the hypothesis of regulation of GATA3 and IL-4 expression orchestrated by GATA3-AS1.

  • Tinted sunscreens offer UV and visible light protection and are designed to match all skin tones, unlike traditional sunscreens.
  • A study evaluated 7 different tinted sunscreens for color match and user satisfaction across various skin types (Fitzpatrick phototypes I-VI) by applying them on subjects' arms and using photography and surveys.
  • Results showed that while many products matched well for medium skin tones (SPT III-IV), very light (SPT I-II) and very dark skin tones (SPT V-VI) had limited options with only a few suitable matches found.

Aim: To describe the time between external ventricular drain (EVD) implantation and mobilization in neurosurgery intensive care unit (ICU) patients with EVDs. Due to increased intracranial pressure, neurosurgery patients with external ventricular drain (EVD) who are admitted to the ICU frequently remain at rest, resulting in prolonged ICU and hospital length of stay (LOS), mechanical ventilator (MV) duration, and other adverse effects.

Material And Methods: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted on 131 neurosurgery patients admitted to the ICU with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) or intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) who underwent EVD.

This study investigated batch-fed vermicomposting of cow manure, with a specific focus on assessing the effects of tylosin on the weight of earthworms and the overall quality of the resulting manure. Five reactors, including three concentrations of tylosin (50, 100, and 150 mg/kg) and two control reactors, were employed. Residual tylosin concentrations were measured using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
