Background: Physical activity (PA) and diet quality have each been shown to be inversely associated with mortality but their combined impact on longevity has been less explored, particularly when considering their changes over time. This study aimed to examine the separate and combined associations of PA, diet quality and their changes over time with mortality outcomes.
Methods: A prospective cohort study was performed on 9349 adults aged 40 to 79 years from the population-based European Prospective Investigation into Cancer in Norfolk Study, with repeated measurements of PA and diet (from 1993 till 2004) and subsequent follow-up till 2022 (median follow-up 18.
Background: Lower extremity injuries account for an enormous portion of sports medicine cases in the United States each year. Unfortunately, there are no uniform criteria for athletes to complete prior to returning to sport (RTS) following a lower extremity injury. Therefore, the purpose of this systematic review is to review current literature for joint-specific and global lower extremity testing to determine the most valid functional test that can be utilized to reduce the risk of re-injury as athletes RTS.

Methods: This retrospective review of transurethral WVTT for benign prostatic enlargement focused on 50 Chinese patients who exhibited clinical indications (acute retention of urine or symptomatic lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostatic enlargement) for surgical treatment between June 2020 and December 2021 in Hong Kong. Exclusion criteria included active urinary tract problems and urological malignancies.
The pathophysiologies of achalasia and gastroesophageal reflux disease with Barrett's esophagus are highly distinct, though the clinical signs and symptoms of both are highly overlapped. The concomitant development of both achalasia and Barrett's esophagus is rare. We describe a case of a patient with a concomitant diagnosis of both pathologies and further explain the epidemiology of carrying both diseases simultaneously.

Subtle Lisfranc injuries can go undiagnosed on conventional imaging leading to devastating consequences and poor functional outcomes for elite athletes. Objective.

Materials And Methods: Using territory-wide public electronic medical records in Hong Kong, we emulated a sequence of trials on patients with T2DM with elevated LDL-C levels in every calendar month from January 2008 to December 2014. Pooled logistic regression was applied to obtain the hazard ratios for the major CVDs (stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure), all-cause mortality and major adverse events (myopathies and liver dysfunction) of statin therapy.
Aim: Recovery from stroke is adversely affected by neuropsychiatric complications, cognitive impairment, and functional disability. Better knowledge of their mutual relationships is required to inform effective interventions. Network theory enables the conceptualization of symptoms and impairments as dynamic and mutually interacting systems.

Multiphoton microscopy, a powerful tool for deep-tissue imaging, has received sustained interest in advancing its speed, field of view and imaging depth. However, to avoid thermal damage in scattering biological tissue, field of view decreases exponentially as imaging depth increases.

Generation of ribosome footprints and their conversion into sequencing libraries is technically demanding and sensitive to biases that distort the representation of physiological ribosome occupancy. We address these challenges by producing ribosome footprints with P1 nuclease rather than RNase I and replacing RNA ligation with ordered two-template relay, a single-tube protocol for sequencing library preparation that incorporates adaptors by reverse transcription.

Therefore, this retrospective cohort study examines the short-term and long-term risks of post-infection CVD among COVID-19 patients with different vaccination status utilizing data from electronic health databases in Hong Kong. Cox proportional hazards regression adjusted with inverse probability of treatment weighting is used to evaluate the risks of incident CVD (coronary heart disease, stroke, heart failure) and all-cause mortality in COVID-19 patients.

Methods: Studies were identified from four electronic databases from database inception to 2 June 2021, according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis statement. The review protocol was registered in the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews with the identification number: CRD42021275124.
Purpose: To report a case of pigmentation in focal scleral nodule (FSN).
Methods: This is a single case report.
Result: An asymptomatic 61-year-old woman was referred with small, partially pigmented raised lesion located at the superior margin of the optic nerve head.
Introduction: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has led to an increase in global awareness of relevant public health preventive measures. This awareness can be explored using online search trends from major search engines, such as Google Trends. We investigated the relationship between public awareness of preventative measures and progression of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: A case-control study included individuals aged ≥18 years, unvaccinated or received two to three doses of CoronaVac/BNT162b2, using electronic healthcare databases in Hong Kong. Those with first COVID-19-related hospitalization, severe complications, or mortality between 1 January and 15 August 2022 were defined as cases and matched with up-to-10 controls by age, sex, index date, and Charlson Comorbidity Index.
Purpose: We compare Prostate Health Index, Prostate Health Index density, and PSA density in predicting clinically significant prostate cancer in MRI-guided prostate biopsy.
Materials And Methods: This is a multicenter evaluation of prospectively maintained prostate biopsy databases at 10 urology centers. Men with Prostate Health Index and MRI-guided targeted and systematic prostate biopsy performed and without prior prostate cancer diagnosis were included.
Background: Whether hospitalized patients benefit from COVID-19 oral antivirals is uncertain.
Objective: To examine the real-world effectiveness of molnupiravir and nirmatrelvir-ritonavir in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 during the Omicron outbreak.
Design: Target trial emulation study.
Ribosome profiling quantifies translation genome-wide by sequencing ribosome-protected fragments, or footprints. Its single-codon resolution allows identification of translation regulation, such as ribosome stalls or pauses, on individual genes. However, enzyme preferences during library preparation lead to pervasive sequence artifacts that obscure translation dynamics.

Meiotic drivers bias gametogenesis to ensure their transmission into more than half the offspring of a heterozygote. In Schizosaccharomyces pombe, wtf meiotic drivers destroy the meiotic products (spores) that do not inherit the driver from a heterozygote, thereby reducing fertility. wtf drivers encode both a Wtfpoison protein and a Wtfantidote protein using alternative transcriptional start sites.

We illustrate this with a case presentation of such an injury in an elite athlete that ultimately required operative fixation.
Materials And Methods: In order to perform an augmented stress weightbearing CT, the patient is in the standing position, feet facing forward, and with weight distributed equally.
Background: In view of limited evidence that specifically addresses vaccine effectiveness (VE) in the older population, this study aims to evaluate the real-world effectiveness of BNT162b2 and CoronaVac in older adults during the Omicron BA.2 outbreak.
Methods: This case-control study analyzed data available between January and March 2022 from the electronic health databases in Hong Kong and enrolled individuals aged 60 or above.
