Transobturator tape and mini-sling methods in stress urinary incontinence: Results of a randomized clinical trial.

Background: Stress urinary incontinence is one of the most common types of incontinence in premenopausal women, accounting for almost 50% of such cases. Mid-urethral slings are currently the most widely used surgical method for stress urinary incontinence. This study aimed at comparing the efficacy, complications, urodynamic changes and the sexual function status between mini-sling surgery and transobturator tape to help us select the best method in such patients.

The effect of clomiphene citrate and human chorionic gonadotropin on the expression of CatSper1, CatSper2, LHCGR, and SF1 genes, as well as the structural changes in testicular tissue of adult rats.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of clomiphene citrate and human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) on the structural changes, as well as the evaluation of the expression of cation channel sperm-associated protein 1 (CatSper1), cation channel sperm-associated protein 2 (CatSper2), luteinizing hormone/choriogonadotropin receptor (LHCGR), and steroidogenic factor 1 (SF1) genes in testicular tissue of rats. All rats divided into five groups as follows; G1 as the control group that received normal saline, G2 received olive oil, G3 received 100 IU/kg HCG, G4 received 5 mg/kg clomiphene citrate, and G5 received 5 mg/kg clomiphene citrate and 100 IU/kg HCG. At the end of the experiment period, Day 56, blood samples were taken and the serum was isolated.

Impact of prostate needle biopsy on erectile function: A prospective study.

Background: Needle biopsy of the prostate is a diagnostic method for prostate cancer which is a relatively safe method with low risk of serious complications. The evidences regarding the occurrence of erectile dysfunction following prostate biopsy are controversial. Herein, we aimed at determining the rate of erectile dysfunction in those undergoing transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy.

Evaluation of the success rate and complications of conventional varicocelectomy: Do we need microscopic surgery really?

Objective:: Varicocele is the most commonly curable cause of infertility in men. Varicocele is found in 15% of the total male population, 35% of men with primary infertility, and 75%-81% of men with secondary infertility. Generally, patients seek microscopic surgery via surfing the Internet, which is not an available option in all medical centers.

Effectiveness of the addition of tadalafil to tamsulosin in the treatment of acute urinary retention in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia: A randomized clinical trial.

Introduction: Acute urinary retention is one of the most significant complications of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Until now, standard treatments include catheterization and use of α-blockers. Tadalafil has been recently seen to also play a role in the treatment of urinary symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Protective effect of tadalafil and verapamil on testicular function and oxidative stress after torsion/detorsion in adult male rat.

Objective: This study used a rat model to investigate the protective effect of tadalafil and verapamil on testicular function and oxidative stress after torsion/detorsion.

Methods And Materials: Animals were randomly divided into five groups: G1, Sham group; G2, testicular torsion followed by detorsion (TD); G3, testicular torsion/detorsion received 0/4 mg/kg of tadalafil (TDT); G4, testicular torsion/detorsion received 0/1 mg/kg of verapamil (TDV); and G5, testicular torsion/detorsion received 0/1 mg/kg of verapamil and 0/4 mg/kg of tadalafil (TDTV). All treated groups were received the treatment 30 min before detorsion.

Extremely rare presentation of burned-out testicular tumor.

It is commonly accepted to consider retroperitoneal germ cell tumors as the metastasis of a viable or burned-out testicular tumor. In such cases, orchiectomy should be performed since the burned-out site in the testis could continue to harbor malignancy despite systemic chemotherapy. A 45-year-old male presented as an outpatient with complaints of back pain.

The role of blood neutrophil count and the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio as a predictive factor for prostate biopsy results.

Background:: It is apparent that prostate cancer has harmful effects on the erythrocytes, leucocytes, and platelets. In addition, it has been suggested that the toxic granules in neutrophils lead to inflammation in the cancerous tissues besides the activation of monocytes, so in this study we aimed to evaluate the blood neutrophil count besides the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio as a predictive factor for prostate biopsy results and their relationship with prostate cancer grade in patients undergoing biopsy of the prostate.

Methods:: For all men with irritative lower urinary tract symptoms visiting Hasheminezhad Hospital from January to July 2015, in case of having a suspicious digital rectal examination or aged above 40 years, prostate-specific antigen was requested and in case of abnormal results, they underwent prostate biopsy.

Elderly patient with atypical leiomyoma of the bladder presenting as flank pain: A case report.

Atypical leiomyoma is a rare tumor of the bladder whose correct diagnosis with imaging techniques and cystoscopy is difficult. This tumor is prevalent in females and more common in middle age. In the present study we report a rare case of atypical leiomyoma presenting as flank pain and history of recurrent urinary tract infections in an elderly female.

Effects of electromagnetic waves emitted from 3G+wi-fi modems on human semen analysis.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of 3G+wifi modems on human sperm quality.A total of 40 semen specimens were gathered between March and September 2015, from healthy adult men.

A 14-Year-Old Boy with Torsion of the Epididymal Cyst.

Epididymal cyst is a benign mass in the scrotum that is relatively common in adults but it is rare in children. In routine experience the treatment of such cysts is conservative. Torsion of these cysts is extremely rare and the diagnosis is made by exploration of the scrotum.

Testis-sparing surgery in testicular mass: Testicular epidermoid cysts.

We present 3 patients with testicular epidermoid cysts who experienced testis-sparing surgery. These patients had a palpable painless testicular mass and underwent inguinal testicular exploration. Intraoperative frozen section revealed no evidence of malignancy and therefore enucleation of the tumour was performed.
