Aquaporin-4 (AQP4)-specific Th17 cells are thought to have a central role in neuromyelitis optica (NMO) pathogenesis. When modeling NMO, only AQP4-reactive Th17 cells from AQP4-deficient (AQP4), but not wild-type (WT) mice, caused CNS autoimmunity in recipient WT mice, indicating that a tightly regulated mechanism normally ensures tolerance to AQP4. Here, we found that pathogenic AQP4 T cell epitopes bind MHC II with exceptionally high affinity.

This study was conducted to compare postsurgery stress responses after transversus abdominis plane (TAP) blocks and epidural anesthesia in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy under general anesthesia.
Materials And Methods: Sixty patients who were candidates for laparoscopic cholecystectomy were enrolled in this randomized controlled trial.
Introduction: Mental health problems are common globally, and typically have their onset in adolescence and early adulthood-making youth (aged 11-25) an optimal target for prevention and early intervention efforts. While increasing numbers of youth mental health (YMH) initiatives are now underway, thus far few have been subject to economic evaluations. We examine recent cancer incidence trends in Iran and present predicted incidence rates and new cases for the entire country for the year 2025. We developed a method for approximating population-based incidence from the pathology-based data series available nationally for the years 2008 to 2013, and augmented this with data from the Iranian National Population-based Cancer Registry (INPCR) for the years 2014 to 2016.

Previous data indicate that sensitivity to aspirin may be associated with poorly controlled asthma. Background: It has been hypothesized that puberty onset is disturbed as the children gain more weight. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of the puberty disturbances among children with obesity in Tehran, Iran.
Methods: This study was performed as a cross-sectional study, investigating 168 children with obesity from Tehran, Iran, from March 2018 to February 2019.
Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is a central nervous system (CNS) inflammatory autoimmune disease caused by antibodies against aquaporin-4 (AQP4) expressed on astrocytes. Binding of AQP4-specific antibodies (NMO-IgG) triggers activation of the complement cascade, which is responsible for astrocyte loss and secondary demyelination. Although the role for the cytolytic complement proteins in astrocyte destruction in NMO is well established, little is known regarding the initial phase of astrocyte injury.

The involvement of microglia in schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (BD) has remained controversial, however, since results from various post-mortem studies are still inconclusive. In humans, asymmetric gene expression in the fetal cortex has been suggested as the molecular basis of handedness. However, human fetuses already show considerable asymmetries in arm movements before the motor cortex is functionally linked to the spinal cord, making it more likely that spinal gene expression asymmetries form the molecular basis of handedness.

We used myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein in Brown Norway rats to induce a variant of EAE which involves B cells and leads to severe optic neuritis. Intraperitoneal treatment with atacicept at some of the studied dose levels (100 or 200 μg) resulted in increased apoptosis of retinal ganglion cells whereas at a tenfold lower dose or in vehicle-treated animals no such effect became apparent.
