Introduction: Pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH) is common in end stage renal disease (ESRD) patients undergoing hemodialysis. Fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF-23) increases in hemodialysis but its relationship with PAH is not completely understood. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relation between FGF-23 level and development of PAH in ESRD patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Objective: To address prolonged lengths of stay (LOS) in a Level 1 trauma center, we examined the impact of implementing two data-driven strategies with a focus on the physical environment.

Background: Crowding in emergency departments (EDs) is a widely reported problem leading to increased service times and patients leaving without being seen.

Methods: Using ED historical data and expert estimates, we created a discrete-event simulation model.

The objective of this study was to develop and validate a novel 3D dynamic model of a pelvic side-impactor system. The biomechanical responses of a pelvic flexible model (having .mnf file suffix) under the lateral impact load for predicting the bone fracture mechanism are investigated as well.

Over the past decades, scientists have presented ways to manipulate the macroscopic properties of a material at levels unachieved before, and called them metamaterials. This research can be considered an important step forward in electromagnetics and optics. In this study, higher-order nonlinear coupled equations in a special kind of metamaterial waveguides (a planar waveguide with metamaterial core) will be derived from both electric and magnetic components of the transverse electric mode of electromagnetic pulse propagation.
