Polymorphic Variants in 5'-UTR Regions of the RAD51 Gene are Associated With RAD51 Expression and Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC): A Case-Control Study.

Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease at morphologic and molecular levels, which is considered the most commonly occurring cancer in women. RAD51, a DNA-repairing protein, involves homologous recombination and has a vital role in genome stability. Polymorphism of the RAD51 gene, and its overexpression, has been proposed to be associated with the development of breast cancer.

Mastalgia as an atypical presentation of hepatocellular carcinoma: a case report.

Background: As the incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) diagnoses in Saudi Arabia has recently increased due to better diagnostic techniques, the incidence of diagnosed HCC metastasis has also increased. Here, we report a case of HCC metastasis to the rib with an initially atypical presentation of mastalgia caused by extrahepatic metastasis.

Case Presentation: A 31-year-old woman with a prior hepatitis B viral infection presented with a mass in the left breast accompanied by mastalgia for a 6-month duration.

Effect of new neuronal growth factor on healing of sciatic nerve in rats.

Objective: The study aimed to investigate the effect of a new peptide new nerve growth factor (NNGF) on the healing of divided sciatic nerves in rats.

Material And Methods: Twenty Sprague-Dawley rats of 250-300g were divided into two groups (group 1 - study group and group 2 - control group). Under ketamine intramuscular anesthesia sciatic nerves were exposed, divided and repaired using 10/0 dexon.

Myxoid neurothekeoma: a rare soft tissue tumor of hand in a 5 month old infant.

Myxoid Neurothekeoma is a rare benign nerve sheath tumor, commonly seen in young females. Patients usually present with a small nodule in different anatomical sites, commonly involving the face and the upper limb. We present the case of a five-month-old boy, who presented with a nodule on the left thumb.

Intestinal inflammation in rats induces metallothionein in colonic submucosa.

The aim of the current study was to determine if induction of metallothionein (MT) via acute or chronic dietary zinc supplementation attenuates intestinal inflammation, and to investigate the relationship with site-specific intestinal MT determined by immunolocalization. Growing rats were assigned to zinc-deficient (ZD), acute zinc-treated (ZT), pair-fed, control or chronic Zn-supplemented (ZS) groups. Half the rats in each dietary group received 5% dextran sulphate sodium (DSS) in their drinking water for 4 days.
