Background: Approximately 25% of individuals with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) concurrently experience immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs), while the overall prevalence of these conditions in the general population is 5-7%. Individuals with IBD and concurrent IMIDs tend to have a more aggressive disease profile. We aimed to assess the prevalence of coexisting autoimmune disorders among patients with IBD and their association with inflammatory bowel disease type.

Melamine, often used as an adulterant in infants' formula due to its high protein content, can be harmful when ingested in large amounts, leading to the formation of cyanurate-melamine co-crystals in infants and potentially causing kidney damage. In this study, we introduce a fluorescent method for the selective and reliable detection of melamine in milk and infants' formula. The fluorescent probe comprises copper nanoclusters (Cu NCs) functionalized with thiosalicylic acid (TSA) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as double-protecting ligands.

Multinodular goiter with a retropharyngeal extension: A report of two cases and literature review.

Multinodular goiter (MNG) is a chronic benign nodular enlargement of the thyroid gland. It presents as an anterior painless neck mass, potentially progressing to exert pressure on the trachea and esophagus and giving rise to compressive symptoms. MNG is a common thyroid gland disorder; however, retropharyngeal goiter is considered rare with few reported cases.

Cochlear Implantation in Children with Otitis Media.

One of the concerns during the cochlear implant candidacy process is the presence of chronic otitis media which could delay the implantation process. The aim of this study was to evaluate the surgical difficulties and the long-term complications in children with otitis media and to examine whether it is necessary to delay the implantation until the infection is resolved. The study used a comparative retrospective design based on chart review of all patients who received their implant(s) from January to December of 2012.

Quality of life assessment among multiple sclerosis patients in Saudi Arabia.

Objective: To determine the quality of life (QoL) among multiple sclerosis (MS) patients in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out to assess the QoL of MS patients during the period from November 2016 to May 2017. Patients were recruited from tertiary hospitals in 5 regions in the kingdom.
